Congrats for getting the call Shwayta! About the psychometric test ....don't worry about it .....i have heard from seniors that its a general test to check ur judgmental and behavioral skills.....just give ur answers honestly but ur writing speed should be fast(its a subjective test) coz there wud be less time n several quests............. during the Psychometric test.... BE URSELF.... n even if u want to fake something... remember it ... so that u don mess it up when the same question is asked to u later in a different manner...
For more info on psyco test check the 2nd and 3rd page of this thread.....it has all the info...and bout the sample questions please google and u will get a lot of data and sample questions for the same!
Hope this helps...All the best!

Case study -3 - 10-04-2008, 11:41 AM

Hey puys,

Here comes a case GD.

SHOOT YOUR OPINIONS!!!!

Abhi and Kabhi were bright kids doing their b.tech in Comp Sc from IIT Madras. They had consistently topped the class and had won many software contests. While Abhi came from a rich business family, Kabhi’s father was a Government clerk and came from a middle class family. They were very good friends of each other and alway studied and worked together. In their third year at engineering, they jointly hit upon and developed an idea for a software that would enable instant messaging over mobile phones. With mobile phones already being an essential gadget and yahoo/hotmail/Gtalk instant messaging being a rage among the youth, they felt that the idea had a big business potential. So they decided that they would start a company together in future on this and would keep it a secret till the time is ripe. Abhi’s father was enthused by their idea and was ready to completely fund their venture if they wanted to go ahead, if he was given a 40% stake. Kabhi father did not have much idea about instant messaging or cell phones and was concerned about failure and hence wanted him to take up a good job. He wanted Abhi to gain some experience first before venturing and was also skeptical about Abhi’s father’s offer.

At the end their third year, many companies came for placements. Among them, companies of interest to them were Yahoo who were recruiting for developers for their instant messenger and Nokia recruiting for developers for their cellphones. Yahoo was a worldwide pioneer in instant messaging while Nokia was a pioneer in cellphone technology. Abhi and Kabhi had also attended CAT just for the sake of understanding the exam pattern and cracked it big time. Though they had calls from all the top institutes, they were not eligible to join since they had one more year of graduation to complete.

Kabhi, after getting convinced by his father decides to take up the interviews of Yahoo and Nokia after informing Abhi.

1. What should Abhi do in this case?

since you are from jaipur, probably ur view for the first question is satisfactory, though i still feel that puru and shuru should start off with banglore solely because they aren't from the real estate business and for starting something new for the first time they should start with a place which will give them more exposure and teach them the nuances of the business... yes, like you said, jaipur is also developing and this willl be a new concept there, but that may or may not help them to survive in the business... once they know the in and out of the business they can start off in jaipur with better infrastructure and manpower....
secondly, if you read the case study, it doesn't mention that there is somebody ready to invest for them.. they are debating if they shud use thei resources or go in for a venture capitalist...

thats all i had to say... it was nice to see somebody atleast respond... Sheena where you buddy????
Thanks Dhanashree for responding ....
Also. I would like to add somethin....
I agree tht B'lore may prove to be a better option for their learning experience but to earn max profit in long run, I think jaipur is a better place to flourish. It will become more clear if we consider the factors on which the success of their business will depend. That are :

1. Primarily on the max. use of the related web-portal.
2. No. of needy customers present in market.
3. Availability of solutions ( rentals, schemes, lands, real estate proveiders )to fulfill their
needs on reasonable prices.
4. competetion posed by their established contemporaries.

Except 1st, I think Jaipur is at advantage with rest three considerations. As I've already mentioned and restating tht jaipur is going global & technically forward than before, so the use of internet gradually increasing day by day. Its like if B'lore is developed, jaipur is developing at a faster rate.
If they choose jaipur, they would be one of the pioneers in their field and soon may become maestro of their sector by availing the sea oppurtunities offered by jaipur. So, I still stand with jaipur to be tht place.

Well, again thanks for making it more clear abt second Q, If it was tht simple then, definitely the ans should be a Venture capitalist.
Thts all for now .....
Looking 4 some of ur inputs Sheena...
Ur responses are always welcome....

yeah vermona.. i was asking you only for ur qualification...
well even i dont have much idea abt the economy related stuff and i dont know if they are more into the economy... i think its got more to do with fashion... check out this website - Fibre2fashion - Premier B2B Marketplace for World Textile, Apparel & Fashion Industry, Best B2B Textile Portal.... its like the ultimate retail related site... do a google search otherwise... try searching for news... latest news... thats all i know... but even i dont have too much idea abt other areas... will surely post if i find anything interesting on this forum....

And yeah, kudos to sheena… lady you have been doing really good… waiting for ur response for the second case study on real estate.
