This one is for seniors, please. I understand going through the posts that one can get a laptop after joining IIFT too. What i want to know is how much discount does the bulk deal give? I mean, 30-40 people opting is surely a great number - equivalent to an institutional sales order. See, on a thread on PG which i have posted elsewhere in this thread, there's a bulk deal of Dell Inspiron 1420 whic they are trying to negotiate. BUt the discount works out to be a mere 2,000/- per laptop, which i feel is quite insignificant. So if the discount which i can avail at IIFT will be more than that, i can surely wait.

friends..
soon we all will need a lappy..I hv gone through the dell deal thread. Dell gives u a personalised computer..no matr wht u want and how much. It gets everything at its gurgaon centre and assmbles and then dispatches newhr in India.one of my friend got it lik that.
similarly not everyone will be wanting a dell.Some want Vaio.
Some toshiba...IBM etc.
friends my point ..we already hv at least 25 sureshot IIFT guys ..v wil increase to at least 40-50 in coming days.Nw all companies hv big centres in NCR. So at least we IIFT guys cn pool in and discuss our personalised deals and wen we meet for fee submissions etc. v can personally walk to some nice place to get lappies (some place known to offer good deals.I hv a really geeky friend in Del ..i wil ask him plus thr must b some dehlites here.).Thr we can crack a deal for us.40-50 ppl tht c wil get surely can cracka vry nice place...(v vil also chk our negotiating skills as wannabe managers)
The point in getting IIFT ppl together first is tht ppl will prefer a deal closer to the place they will live..so for us its delhi..others it will be mumbai, lucknow, kolkata etc....
and
Plus hw many here r for gaming..having same PC platform makes it infinitely easy for networking and LAN gaming...
Since we can adjust a lappy in loan..so once v hv loan ..we'll come 4 submission and then lappy deal...

Yes Ysh, I couldn't agree more. So by default, it mean mean more work for Delhi ppl . We can find a few IIFt aspirants who would b interested in laptops in PG and our near group. That figure can be our base figure for laptops needed and then we can start contacting sales rep of various companies. I personally think Dell is good. BUt of course, the one that can give me value for money will be BEST for me. So yes, the tech ppl among us ( I know I am not one) can tell others about the specs and the config to go for. And then, if ppl are going to come to Delhi for fees, something concrete can be planned. (I am not coming for fees.) So that once we land in Delhi for the classes, we know what model and brand we will go for along with the cost, of course.
I guess we can even club Calcutta ppl's orders. Afterall, the laptop co will surely have a prsence in Cal too. So there should be no problem in arranging for a few in Delhi and a few in Cal.

All those considering Dell Inspiron 1420, I already have one. I bought it in Nov 2007. I got one with 2 GB RAM and it works quite well. I am happy with its performance.

Sorry had no access to internet so could not post....
As far as rishikesh goes there is a place called shivpuri which has white water rafting n other adventure sports i.e bridge slithering, cannoning etc....did all this last year in march
Auli is a beautiful place and is on the way 2 badrinath (have been ther too)
Auli main u wud find no snow in may/june, but it would be lush green.
I can also suggest another beatiful place in lao spiti...known as chandra tal lake. its all hiking i think on foot a 2 day journey.
Otherwise im heading off to Ladakh for sure in may.....so all those
interested can drop me a pm or scrap me on orkut.

hi buddy, thats exactly what i feel. people who are in delhi or nearby, if they could give us details regarding the cost, i would be one person willing to go for the bulk deal. what would really help is to decide on the configuration required.

1.8-2gHz dual core intel ,
2 gb ram
250 gb hard drive
nvidia 8600 graphics
15.4 screen

actually what i feel is that lets all us iiftians meet up in delhi and buy. that would put us all in a much better position for bargaining, and we can cover a lot of areas within a lesser time. also, if the shopkeepers see strength representation, i feel they would be more conciled towards a bargain.

buddy, i saw the vostro 1500 dell. all models are giving vista home basic. my question is, since i want that if a take vista as my operating sys, i want the whole experience. so what config do i need in vostro to support the vista aero experience without makign my pc crawl?
