You are most welcome to send those queries.
There seems to be too much confusion here. But excelsior, ask the following to SBI:
1. Can scholar loans be given only by the branch nearest to the institute? Can no other branch give this loan?
2. Is IIFT Cal also eligible for scholar loan scheme?
3. Merits/demereits of loan taken at place of study v/s loan taken at place of residence
4. Time taken for loan disbursement

Like, I am in Bombay and have been selected for Cal campus. For me to go to Cal for loan process will cost me so much, it will exceed the benefit to take a scholar loan. That too, in Communist Cal, it will take a very long time for my loan to be processed. In such a case, I will prefer other bank like Union Bank or Bank of India. Hell, it seems I will need an excel sheet to find out where to take a loan.

Hey Puys,

Since Gaurav has assured us that we can get a scholar loan when we join IIFT in Calcutta I am not too worried about it. I suppose the guys who cannot pay the first installment will need to dig up the money from somewhere. But personally I feel it is better you just borrow the first installment from somebody you know and return it later on once you are through with your loan procedure sometime in July. I will be doing the same thing.

@Gaurav

Can you please let us know how long will it take to get all the loan process done. Is it better to take the HDFC loan which has been sent along with the offer letter or go for the scholar loan from SBI.

@ guys who have received the letter.

Could you please let me know which courier have you received the letter from. I have gotten into IIFT Kolkata and reside in Bangalore. I have still not received my letter and am getting a little worried.

It varies from year to year.....in any case with the hefty hostel and academic fee we'll have to arrange for something at the Gurudwara next to IIFT, at least sundays can be managed this way. Jokes apart the messing charges will be abt 4k-5k per semester......

You bet, dreamweaver. Very true. fees are not at all cheap. So will have to live very frugally for two years. Boy, hope the US economy and global economy recovers by the time we have our placements. Else, who knows, we mite even need to work at the Gurudwara!!

Don worry Bro!!
The fee is definitely exorbitant but dat's the case wid every Bschool in the country.....and if after passing out frm IIFT we get to work at the Gurudwara then believe me, people frm Harvard will be working at the New York Railway terminal and even then things will remain even

Hi Deshh,

I read your MDI GD/PI experience. Pretty good I must say. And dont worry about using your hands in GD In fact you helped others and did better for group dynamics. So what are your priorities (MDI or IIFT)? I could not find your name in the list maintained by Nurav. And yes I hope that we see some movement and people get into their dream colleges. In fact, I got thru my dream college - IIFT Delhi

Cheers,
Aman.

Season so far

Calls: SCMHRD, IIFT, S.P. Jain, IIM-S
Converts: SCMHRD, IIFT D
Results Awaited: S.P. Jain
Not Attending: IIM - S
