Can anyone shed light on SBI Scholar Loan? What makes a person eligible for this loan as against the usual educational loan? The Scholar Loan page on the SBI website is showing up blank :-|

Yes, u r rite. The page shows nothing on d site. Scholar loan is applicable to those students who get admission to some of the better business colleges in India. There is a list of some 15-20 colleges. Any student who makes it to any of these colleges can get a scholar loan. For more, visit your nearest SBI branch!

Is IIFT one of these colleges? I will go to the SBI branch tomorrow but it is better to be armed with information before going there. Thanks

Yes, iift is one of those colleges. So specifically inquire about scholar loans, and mention iift. Also, ask about relative merits/demerits of taking loan from the place of study v/s place of premament residence. And post the results of your queries here .

I called up a contact at the local SBI. I am located in Ghaziabad. He says that scholar loans are available only in the branch attached with the institute or the branch closest to the institute. To find out the designated branch, he said that I should contact the IIFT folks and also check whether it is covered in scholar loan.

Anyone has any idea which branch would give the scholar loan?

i guess al dese things bout loans in gettin way 2 confusin...:confused:...one thinks dt d seniors wud b in d best position 2 suggest as 2 which is d bst place 2 take a loan...havin learnt frm dere own n dere batchmates' exp..uppydog:...v can wait fr dere exams 2 gt ovr so dt dey find sum time 2 clear d air..8-)

These are the names common to IIFT and FMS, the starred are common to FMS(MS) and IIFT. So not sure if they will be taking up or not as i have not performed any due dilligence to benefits of choosing one over the other.......

nurav has listed only delhi, however this is for both delhi and kol. about some names missing from nurav list is because i think this list is only for GEN.

U ppl don't need to worry about the scholar loan right now....u will get it easily once u join IIFT.Nice 2 see someone from my city(Ghaziabad) If u ppl have any other query u can call me on anytime as I am at my hometown right now(Ghaziabad) and don't generally access the internet.U can get my contact number from my orkut profile.
