Hi Friends,

Dell has revised its prices and specs for both Inspiron and XPS ranges. Attached is a doc listing 2 options for Dell Inspiron 1525. As far as mouse and backpack are concerned, I would prefer to buy them from outside. Have a really bad experience with my Dell backpack.

Hi,

I was given admission in the general quota(Mr.Mago had confirmed it) in the list published on March 11 and had paid the first installment of fees.
Yesterday i received a mail from IIFT asking me if i belong to the Non-Creamy layer of OBC(yes, i am eligible for OBC)... their intention being transferring pepl frm general category who are eligble for obc to the obc category so that required number is met.
Confused as to wat to reply.

Posting after a long time........
Was goin thru the previous posts bout a trip to vaishno devi.....guys i have a suggestion...y not look at gangotri...which is a much more adventurous option...with treks n stuff.....plus the scenic view is also breath taking...im seriously planin on gangotri....leme know if any puys are intersted..

P.S - The cost factor comes out to b very affordable....

Hi! I think u shud give the right info to the institute...its kinda duty..cos neways u gonna b safe..u already hav a seat ..nd just will b shifted in quota..nd therefore vacating one seat for a general student.
I think u shud talk to Gaurav Gulati sir nd explain the situation to him and ask him if u gonna lose somthg..I think tht shudnt b the case.It will definiely clear ur confusion.Just give a call to IIFT(Gaurav Gulti Sir/LD Mago Sir).

Ya i did sent a mail to Mago Sir,asking my concerns... i don have an issue with being put into the obc category( though it was the main reason why i decided to give iim-k interview the slip) but my concern is if i am put into obc quota and the seats in general merit are filled up and later some public interest litigation(PIL) is filed and the quota is put on hold.. then i am in a quandry...this has happend in the engineering and medical entrance seats in my state and some pepl had to move the court in order to get admission.

This i know is a far fetched situation...but u cant rule that out

Dude(I assume ! I can totally understand ur situation...I will again say put all ur concerns in front of Gaurav Gulati sir or LD Mago sir on a call..they r helping ppl .
Authority is the best person to talk abt nd discuss ne issue...coz that will b the most authenticated one..I think IIFT ppl must b having this thing in mind....they might also hav an undertaking kinda thing...as wat action will b taken if such a thing happens.
So just discuss all the legal thgs related to quota u hav in mind with them..nd plz share their response over here(it might help other ppl).
Then take any action u feel like.

1) If I am put under the obc quota,later some Public interest

No you will NOT lose your admission.
2) If I am put in OBC quota...will my being in obc quota affect my placements negatively?
Placement is not connected with quota. Placement depends on the performance of the students in interview process.
3) Is my admission to the college confirmed, if I do not fulfill the criteria of OBC ?
Yes, it is confirmed.
You are advised to give the CORRECT INFORMATION TO THE INSTITUTE. It may be mentioned that if you give any wrong information you will face the consequence of the same."

The last part is a bit scary

@ Rawshivani : Thanks for the reply, the only reason why i din call the pepl at iift was that i din want an oral confirmation.They were very helpful indeed.

Sure dude. Sounds cool. I've heard that Dell offers a 5% student discount and assorted freebies to start off with n the deal gets better as the number of ppl who opt for it goes up. It's probably the same for the other laptop manufacturers as well. It wouldn't hurt to gather info. However, it might be better to wait till we're actually on campus before making any concrete decisions cos many ppl aren't on PG.

i would second that. now as i noted a few days back, hp is out with new models. check out the hp6700 and hp9700 series. no wonder dell is reducing prices.
