What is the average salary and the lowest salary expected?.

For the first batch they are expecting around 5-8 lacs since its a combination of both freshers and experienced ......Where as in PGPM4T3 12 months batch they are expecting to reach a min sal of 6-9 lacs ....hpe we will have the exact numbers once the placements start this aug-sept for 4t4 ......already they have roped in plenty of companies for the campus .....definitely placement is not a worry .....moreover ...its the individuals responsibility to get his price fixed rather than the school ......hope the 4t4 does well .....also heard that 3M is going to be present and they have other companies which are not mentioned in the website ......!!!

Even for 1 year PGPM is there test and if there can i know the test pattern...

i found out from t smot site tht they have only 2 full time faculty....& u say tht t facult is t best??wat is the avg salry 4 freshers who r doin t 16mth progrm...is it really worth doin...?do post some morethngs abt t institute....so we can get a clear pic

Hi Srini,
Just quoting you here about one of the most sucessful B-schools in the last four years (i.e) Great lakes(has an average package of 9.7), the current number of permanent faculties available there is only 6(even after four years). You can verify this with anybody and Rakesh Singh(who also has a close touch with SMOT) and TN seshan are included in the list of permanent faculties only this year making the number as 6 before which it was only four.

I do agree that we have only 4 permanent faculties and not 2. But please don't go with that numbers in any of the colleges. It really depends on the quality of the faculties. Even in ISB, from 2002, you can verify that there are a number of Guest faculties only and they slowly added permanent faculties.

I would suggest you to go through the profile of the faculties in SMOT. These faculties teach in schools like ISB, SP jain , Narsee Monjee , Great lakes and some of the renown colleges. SMOT's theory in itself is to give quality education through talented teaching hours. So don't be worried about the faculties. I can give you a written guarantee on the faculties of SMOT. They are at par to the top B-schools in the country. Many of the people who were associated with Great lakes are in close nick with SMOT(which is very notable in terms of trust with previous records).

Coming to the placement scenario, it completely depends on individual capabilities.
The scenari in SMOT looks like freshers can expect a package from 5-7 for the current batch and a lakh more for the next batch. You will see it in records once the placements are done. It can be even higher.

As far as the 12 month program(experienced batch) is considered, the minimum package to be accepted seems to be about 7 lakhs and highest can be above 12 lakhs(since we have a person with 8 years experience).

Some of the renown companies like Cognizant, HCL , Vodafone, Marg construcitons , Ford India , L & T and 3M(3M is number 97 in fortune 500 companies and 27 in the Top MBA employers in the world in terms of satisfaction-Cnn money rating). With the people behind SMOT with high calibre even bigger names are expected. We need to wait and watch.

Hi pandit,
I don't understand what you mean to say by prepare for CAT or SMOT. SMOT has a separate entrance exam similar to CAT pattern to check the logical and verbal abilities of the student. Please don't take it as granted.

If you have a good CAT scores, you need not take the entrance exam. We expect the competition for SMOT to increase by next year with good placement records anticipated.

In the current batch, there are students who have score more than 90 percentiles in CAT 2007 and have exempted from SMOT entrance test. These people also had a very good profile working with industires like TCS , Verizon and Wipro. But you need to have something to prove your logical ability anywhere you go.

Being a doctor, your profile is unique for a B-school and hence easier to get in.

Current student profile from SMOT includes people from Infosys, TCS , Wipro, Verizon , Accenture , Taj hotels , ICICI bank , Dell and more. All these people have more than two years of work experience and these people would have not joined SMOT resigning their jobs if they dint find SMOT is worthier.
