Though the Chinese dragon can breathe fire through its bullish economy ,its foreign policy not one to be proud of,Indian elephant a gentle giant. Slow and meandering, it has a foreign policy of no pre eminent strikes which makes it stand out

The dragon and elephant have completely different economics. One is pre dominantly Manufacturing and the other services. But both the dragon and elephant have a lot of people below the dollar a day. Both have a challenging road ahead but it looks unlikely they will cross each others lane in the highway to prosperity.

The Chinese dragon lays its road and bridges on time and plans ahead were as the Indian elephant which just woke up after a long license Raj, is fast catching up.There are many difficulties for the Indian elephant but it is a price the Indian elephant is willing to pay for freewill

Indian elephant though it is slow and meandering has a democratic lineage to make any decisions unlike the dragon which decides on its own and the rest just follow.Freedom of expression is lost.

Chinese dragon is power hungry, it believes in development what ever the risk may be.It looks to africa for future energy security while the Indian elephant is still figuring out what energy security means

Chinese dragon flew a man into space, but the Indian elephant is planning to go one step further to moon. The dragon had done it and they are already miles ahead, but its not a race to space

Indian elephant can teach more to Chinese dragon than it can learn

while on some parameters. China does fare better than India (predominantly Infrastructure), there are some areas which are India's strength

Democracy and Human Rights
Inspite of all the hurdles and loopholes, India has upheld its democratic tradition- where public opinion is not supressed and human rights are largely respected (though this is again debatable). China is far behind in this.

Vast Pool of English speaking Human Resource
India has a vast pool of English speaking graduates/engineers/scientists in comparison to China which is now laying stress on English Language skills for its graduates

Quality in Manufacturing
Indian manufacturing industry has a better reputation around the world- (a good example is the auto component industry). China's quality (Mattle-lead in toys issue) is under world's scanner

Would like to add:
Population control
Something that India should learn from China is the way they have controlled the rate at which population grows.

Environmental issues:
although China is ahead of us in pollution and gas emmisions they have recognized this as a major issue and are making steps to control the same. eg: chinese students made paper bags that they distrubuted for free to anyone. The first "green" bio-degradable credit card to discourage the use of plastics...and so on.

Well China's population control program worked really well for two decades, but they are working overtime to scrap the program now you know why??? The population is getting grey...Now, India has advantage for the next thirty years...unless china encourages immigration they have no workers...

A paper Bag is not going to bring a radical change to china's environmental policies. The skies over Beijing are so polluted that many athletes are considering withdrawing from Beijing Olympics and Chinese government is going to ban all the cars through the venue during the Olympics....The situation is very very bad

Let's discuss today abt the TATA-Jaguar Deal- what it means for Indian industry and India at large.....
Also, of special interest with respect to HRM and LR would be the way negotiations were done with UNITE- the Union of automotive workers in UK
