Its certainly better than gurgaon on par with hyderabad being in financial capital helps 420 students only excellent placements.

Rest your hard work & determination. Accomodation i think there is a thread where you will find dimple dara & shweta singh who have also secured a seat and are looking for partners in mumbai. Search for the thread.

I visited IBS Mumbai Powai campus today, and also met a friend studying in the first year at IBS Mumbai, posting some of the information collected:

1. New Campus: As we all know, IBS Mumbai is shifting to brand new campus, at Powai (Near IIT Mumbai). Puys trust me, they will atleast take 3 months time in order to complete all the construction and interiors work. Currently the condition is really really BAD, with nothing in place. I hope it would be done when we start off with our main course from June 01, 2008. Its G+2 Floors.

2. Laptops: Laptops would be provided in last week of June 08, thats after 20-25 days from the start of course. Everybody has to take a laptop, they don't have any rule wherein if a person doesn't want laptop can get the laptop money refunded. Last year everybody was given HP NX7300 and is quiet good in terms of performance. However as per the officials, we wont be given the same one, a better & latest model will be given to us. Also it would be difficult to use ones own laptop, as the laptop provided by IBS would have all preloaded applications like SAP.......etc. The new campus will be WI-FI enabled.

3. Dean - Y K Bhushan: Dean of the Mumbai IBS Mr. Y K Bhushan is said to be the pillar of the IBS Mumbai branch. He has a very good rapport with the management of various good organizations.

4. Accommodation: I am sorry Puys, i missed out on inquiring about that. As I stay in Mumbai itself, accommodation is not required, hence it did not strike me.

5. Placements: Its been known that the avg placement for the last batch is definetly 5.5L+. Also its been expected that the placements are expected to improve a lot for every batch henceforth, as IBS will own a very very good campus, also the locality has changed. Lokhandwala Complex, where our new campus is, is one of the best planned complexes in Mumbai. Its said to be a posh area. UBS is expected to visit for final recruitment for batch 07-09 (our seniors).

6. Scholarships: Scholarships are being provided as per the rules given in the booklet and the are no further conditions to it. Just fulfill the conditions provided and u get the scholarship which you are eligible for.

7. Summer Placements: Even summer placements are expected to improve. Currently companies like JP Morgan , Mahindra & Mahindra are visiting, with packages offered in the range of 8k-10k per months.

8. Hang out: Puys, Hiranandani Complex is a good place to hang out. It has everything from KFC to Pizza Hut to Mc Donalds. It also has a CAR Riding track(nearby to our campus)...its amazing guys.

9. Batch Size: As per my friend studying in there in 1st year, their current batch size is of just 390 !!!!!. Our batch size would be definetly more that that...any idea on the exact number.....please post it.

Its been a good experience as whole. The feedback from my friend studying there was also positive. Hence definetly looking forward to it........

Cheers.
Kartik.

Hope the information posted above would be of some help to atleast some of you, if yes, press the thanks button below, check whether its working properly or not !!

Neha you are just 20 even if you start with 5lakh package when you reach my age you will be getting 25 lakhs.

Dont think of the lowest think of the highest and be positive that you will be one of the best at IBS,Mumbai.

I was not lucky enough to get my MBA admision at your age and had to fight to get where i am and get my admission. So if you have gift to hard work & determination just think you will be the best and get a good placement.

How about faculty, placements, guest lectures, students, etc.... As far as i know ibs mumbai is better in this all aspects...

hey to help u out all i am quoting a mail sent to me by the mumbai pass out which goes like this. this does ntmean that i am completely against ibs. but still....

I’ll say you don’t join any of the IBS centre if possible even if it is Hyderabad. I am damn serious about it.
I’ll say you join IBS [any centre] only when you desperately want to finish your MBA this year without giving much thought about your career and the quality of education & you finally want a mere job in this corporate. Otherwise there could not be any reason to pursue MBA from IBS.

Now if you need it desperately then – IBS ranking goes like this-
Hyderabad
Mumbai
Gurgaon
Kolkata etc

Again in IBS centers, IBS-Hyd is little good. Rests are good only on paper.
Regarding Mumbai – [On the scale of 5]
Infra- 3 & ½ [IBSM shifted to new campus which is in underconstruction n 'll take another 01 year]
Faculty - <2
Library – 3 & ½
Quality of placement – 1 & ½
Quality of students [peer group] – 2
Average Package – 3.75 to 4.0 Lc [Not more than this]
Placement – Not 100% (only 85%) till today [but they are showing it in news papers- so you can understand the things]

IBS- Hyderabad is also more or less same as Mumbai but has little advantage of being IBS HEADQUARTER. But again beware.

One very personal suggestion I want to give you- while pursuing your MBA you look forward for few following things-
1. Quality of Peer Group
2. Infra
3. Faculty
4. Industry Interactions [Here in IBS it is ZERO]
5. Average Package
6. Placement
7. Quality of placement – Very Important [Profile and Sectors of your interest- and what kind of efforts are being put by the college to place each individual in the company, sector, industry of his/her choice- Here in IBS it is hopeless- College will put you anywhere without giving a second thought about your interest- you are just a substance for them- they are emotionless- IBS simply wants to place you somewhere so that they can show their 100% placement result in news papers and in this way they can attract students for their next batch]

Its npt worth spending 10.0 lc for such place. Now, you decide yourself, whether you want to join. Let me know if you need anything else. You can call me on my cell no.

Wish you good luck..!!

hi dhiraj,

The mail is an eyeopener for sure....

About placement I would say what he told is 100% true as even i heard that placements are 100% but than people who are left are placed in ICFAI publication house or like that.

Regarding Infra, yes i know their Goregaon branch.

Regarding quality of placement - I m not sure. Bcoz i know one gal who did from IBS Mumbai 2 years back got placed in icici bank as an assistant manager with a good pay pack.

But than one shouldnt take it lightly when a student from the institute says all this. But dont you think u can find out more by asking few other students too...

Hi All,

In my view, with respect to the discussions above, each and every person has his / her own viewpoint.

A glass is half filled, yet half empty.

Hence, would suggest everybody to do a reality check on their own, visit the campus atleast once if possible. Its true that it would be difficult for people staying out of Mumbai to make a visit, but guys its a matter of next two year, which would be your place to learn. So has a lot of importance attached to it.

It all depends on the way person experiences himself, rest all is ok....

this just my way of looking at it, thought of just sharing it, i know everybody would know it, but then to....

Cheers,
K.
