Will it be worth for me to invest 10 lakhs and end up with sumthing i dont want?

hi guys,
Jeetendra Khanna here, BE (Mech) from Mumbai, Got 6+ years of experience in IT (development and testing) worked mostly with patni (current) and datamatics. got an option of 2 year and 1 year program and planning to the exec PG. alliance and sdm calls yet to b tried for conversion.
with a current package of 5.75 and 85 months of exp, it is risky taking an institute whch does not take u fwd or at least permits u to remain at status quo. other institute calls may be converted in the coming days, but icfai (at least the hyd campus) is the more reputed among them.
one can dispute whther it deserves to b in national top 10 as shown in Business India rankings, or shld it be at 37 as in pagalguy rankings. but the fact remains that it is a good campus with decent placements.
abt laterals, if a profile change is being planned, then a compromise on the placement may be there initially, but in subsequent jumps, things would definitely be better, thats the optimism i wld like to keep. also, if u consider that ur 2 yr later's package (interpolated wrt current one) wld be high, then consider that placement figures also will keep increasing, as they have, from 2005 to 2007
again, these perspectives vary from p2p. someone wth more experience wld not like to delay an academic break as there cld be other family obligations to think abt, whereas someone wth age on his side can try next year, get better scores and get a better b school or campus.
