Thanks yaar...
Yes I hope that I land up in such a situation where I can reject some colleges. My next target is NMIMS...whose interview is on 21st...

If you pay the fees for Bangalore, and if you move up the waitlist and get selected for Pune - then you will be transferred to Pune. Its upto you to take that risk. As the saying goes - No pain No gain...

Re: SIBM bangalore Discussion - 17-02-2008, 09:34 PM

Hi Guys,

Well, we can have a little "discussion" over SIBM prospects! I would like to start off with some points for ang against SIBM Bangalore. Let's start with "For"

For:
1. It's location is going to be better than new Pune campus, since it's located in one of the IT hubs of Bangalore. (Plus we do have financial consultancies there too.)
2. Both Pune and Bangalore campuses are going to start afresh this session, so obviously, some infrastructure deficiences might be there in both of the campuses.
3. Regarding, the faculty, I am pretty much sure that some of the faculty of PUne is going to be temporarily transferred to Bangalore to maintain homogeniety with Pune campus. (Even if that is not the case, the "investments" in faculty are definitely gonna be made.) Also, looking at the buildings of SIBM Bangalore, it looks like that SIBM is "serious" about it.
4. If you wanna do MBA in IT, nothing beats it, except off course, IIM Bangalore.

Against:
1. This session is gonna be the first for SIBM Bangalore.

Please feel free to add or "subtract" from the above..

If u compare sibm blr and scmhrd then scmhrd wud definately b my 1st choice.
Furthermore There is a sugesstion all who got sibm blr shud plan a trip together to the blr a campus and have a look at t ground zero situation before cumng to a decision

Well true, but you can also tell your friends there in Bangalore, to do the same! Delhi to Bangalore for just looking at the campus doesn't make sense, actually! And, as far as I remember, people were not happy about the Pune Campus either!

You may also want to have a look at the Bangalore campus pics provided by SIBM. And, please note that these pictures are more than two months old...

It's amazing to see how our perceptions change as soon as we become "prospective" MBA (after opening the account of converts)

Initially as MBA wannabes we dont mind filling out both the options .. .we dont care if it's pune or bengaluru as far as is it SIBM!!

But once we convert the call ... why are we getting so much sceptical ?

I know that it's the question of one's career...

But plz understand that when one B-school comes up with a new campus ... they are also aware of such doubts which will be raised ... regarding the infrastructure, faculty and placement

Hence it's obvious that there must be some thought , effort gone into launching a new campus which will be at par with the current one!

If you consider placement ... does it also not depend on how good the candidate is ?

I think you need to have some basic trust in an institution ... else it would become pretty chaotic!
