Siib Gd/pi Experience 2008

Hey PuYs,

I'm just back from the institute ..done with the admissions process for today..posting a few observations and tips for the PG junta

• The case study based GDs are lasting for half an hour to 40 mins per group..so u guys have sufficient time to read,think and analyze the case...just briefly write all the points that u can think of and then put them fwd. to ur group in a structured manner..there may be several options/questions asked at the end of the case...try to discuss them one by one and avoid directly jumping to the conclusion immediately at the start of discussion...listening skills are equally important so also pay attention to what is being discussed by other members in the group..Avoid any arguments or confrontations
• Group Task has already been described by guys who have been thru wid the process...its all about how u guys can co-ordinate amongst urself in making those squares....keep an eye on all what all other group members are doing and help them wherever required (without speaking or gestures )...try out all permutations and combinations and don't just concentrate on ur pieces alone.
• The Essays are on pretty easy topics and u have 30 mins to write just 1 page...so again think and organise ur thoughts before u pen them down...Some of the topics that were there for today's process were 'If i were the PM for a day',Is reservation for women a redundant concept,'India cannot really progress cos its a democracy.Discuss' etc.
• For PI,basic questions are being asked abt Why MBA,Why SIIB etc.Also there was a guy in a panel who was asking quite a few questions based on GK viz GDP figures for India,growth rate,projected rate,Inflation rate,CRR,Repo rate etc...So do brush up these kind of basic questions related to GK and Economy..they cud help u sail thru if u r one of those 'unlucky' ones to get this panel for interview

The entire process gets over in about 4-5 hrs....just make sure u ppl carry all ur original certificates (10th,12th,grad.) and documents(work ex experience letter OR Appointment letter & salary slips etc.) and 1 xerox copy of all of them which is required to be submitted at the time of verification.

Here is my experince :
I had my GD/pi at siib at 11:45 AM whole process last till 1630.

woke up early in the morning reached there at 0900 am thinking that mine is at 0945 any how waited till 1130 then they took us to 5th floor where for half an hour shown us presentation about siib basically its what has given in prospectus
then varification of the marksheet and certificate after that around 1345 gave us sheet for essay writting
TOPIC:INDIA CAN NOT REALLY PROGRESS BECAUSE ITS DEMOCRACY
after that group of 10 is devided in to two part for the group test GROUP TASK:5 people have given 5 packets in which there were some shape like triangle, square, rectange etc n we have to make square out of it just when Major general(panelist) was about to say stop we completed the task perfectly dunno what he was thinking but said fantastic.................
GD: a case studies where there was tyre comp established by Mr. mani n his 2 partner company was expanding and now employee morale was going down customer satisfaction was decreasing................ not very good GD kinda fish market(although there were consensus before GD THAT we DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE FISH MARKET) discussed about 20 minute then Mr. panelist discuss with us about case(after the GD) telling that this discussion has nothing to do with the marking. One smart guy had also seen his marks.................
Interview: very cool n short lasted not more that 10 min only one panelist cool calm n friendly

Hi Puys,

I had my SIIB GT/GD/Interview/Essay today at 09-15 am batch. Reached the place after a gruelling journey from Pune to the campus. Immediately was ushered into the process. Was late by 10 min or so and had to miss the presentation made on the SIIB campus life.

Anyway our group consisted of 5 members. Note that different groups have different order of the activities being carried out.

1st Step - Group Task

We were taken into a room and given 5 envelopes with geometry pieces( triangles, squares trapeziums etc.) and each of us has to make squares of the same size using these pieces. We are not supposed to speak or gesture anything but we can offer our pieces to the other members if we feel they need it to complete their square. If he/she doesnt accept the piece that u r giving, u hav to withdraw it immediately without forcing him to take.

I feel our group cud hav done better than wat we did.

2nd Step - Group Discussion

This is a case study where two groups of ten members discuss about a case study. It was an HR related problem that a company is facing between its employees and the newly appointed manager, Mr. Dhir. Was kinda ok though there were a lot of points that got repeated often after sometime and just got dragged on a bit..

3rd Step - Interview

I had my verification of certificates done just before the interview itself since I had a flight to catch at 3-15pm.... Kudos to the organising seniors for considering my case... Thank u espacially Aditya......

The interview is one of the coolest that u can ask for.. 10 min.. No acads questions, a few HR questions and we discussed a lot abt my company ( He is from a competitor company of mine u see in some sense). Asked abt the capitals, currencies of some countries. answered all except one( Currency of Denmark )...... Overall it was a feel good factor after comin out...

4th Step - Essay Writing

the topic given to us was " If u were the Prime Minister for 1 day... "... Wrote some decent stuff here... Were given 20 min to write but wrote somethin in 10 min, gave the paper and whisked away for my flight. The entire process was over in 3.5 hrs.

To sum up the weightages given for the processes,

SNAP score - 30%
GroupTask - 10%
Interview - 25%
Group Discussion - 25%
Essay Writing - 10%

Keep ur calm, be cool guys.. thats the only thing that matters there.. Nothin to worry or be tensed... Seniors are really cool, they calm ur nerves a lot.. Atleast did for me.. Wish u all the best for the remainin batches... Do well..

i heard tht siib gd-pi process mein girls wear indian formals only.. is tht sahi baat? u saw more girls in indian or western formals? indian formals = salwar-kameez..
pls let me know asap..
