Re: SIBM 2008 GD/PI experiences - 01-02-2008, 07:03 PM

Hi Puys,

Just now came back from Pune.
Mine was in the morning slot 8:00 A.M.

I read all the posts, everyone has mentioned one or other things about the whole procedure and slots and Group tasks and case studies.
I will try to mention those experiences which are not shared.

1) I was the first person to be interviewed in whole batch of 120 students. there were three guys and one of them was Director. It went smooth, starting from my native place, JAMMU to Why MBA?
From Book Review to My work Profile. it lasted for some 10-15 minutes.
I think it was ok.

2) Then had to wait for some 2 hours for the whole group to be interviewed then it was a group task to make a square.

3) We also had small Psychometric test for 5 minutes, as mentioned before

4) Group coordinators were very cool and i must say they were honest, they told everything from good points to bad points about SIBM. it was really a frank discussion.

5) MY DEAR FRIENDS IF U ARE IN MORNING SLOT < PLEASE HAD UR BREAKFAST OTHERWISE THEY WILL STARVE U, We got a chance to eat only at 12:30, so please make sure that u had ur stomachs full.

6) Then case study, i dont think that the case study was personally require 15-20 minutes discuss, so everyone was beating around bush but cant help it.

7) over all coordinators, panelists and the faculty members seem to be good and u get a feel that they are not there to screw ur life but to take u in their college.

Only one thing which made me some what shiky-shaky about SIBM was its infrastructure, i don't know how they managed to build such a reputed school in the so seem to be Primary school, but then i got a chance to talk to few of the people whom i know and they assured me that school is going to shift to a new residential place which has all the amenities
and then again i thought in the end what matters is ur value addition and placement not walls and classrooms.

SO SIBM iam prepared to come, if u are willing to take me.

that was all about my second pune trip in a week, anything more, please free to ask.

all the best to all the people

No time to strategize , we will told to stand in queue, volunteers blindfolded us and then they instructed us what to do and what not to do and start.

But when games are repeating, infact these group tasks are there last year so u have ample time to strategize, 2 hours to 1 year .

Hi puys!
I have my gd/pi on 2nd feb. 1.00 pm slot!first of all best of luck to all!
and then i wud like to remind all my slot mates that we have to avoid making fish market !even in scmhrd one of the guys in our group was rejected after gd only because he was a bit aggressive and at timwes, was not allowing othersto speak so plz plz make sure that we dont make fish market out there and wont cut each others points! We all shall be there to get selected ,not to debate!
and also we must think something abt the football exercise!what say puys?I think we can come up with some ideas and can discuss them there!
and one last but very important thing-I know that the venue is SIBM campus but don't know the exact address so,someone plz plz sms it to me on 09754402555(bcoz i am at a cyber cafe and won't be able to come to cafe in morning!).Exact address is required bcoz if u say symbiosis college to a rikshawwala they might leave u at any symbiosis college(had this sort of exp. at the time of scmhrd!)

So,see all u guys and galz there!ALL THE BEST!
and plz do sms!

heylow...
GD - PI 1st feb
Before i start i should really give it to the sibm asr team and their work and friendliness... braavo....excellent.....

Had my Group Task... The one where you are blind folded and made to search for a rope and make a square... My group was good.. Got the rope but made a polygon instead,...

PIs were next...
3 people...
1. Wouldnt you be better off if you came back with 2 years wrk ex??
Was expecting it so shot the answer back
2. Directed the quetioning towards my out of box thinking and the rest of the interbiew was abt tht only...

GD:
Case study.. vulgar ad.. people protested against company.. company came to you,,,wht to do...

the whole thing took 6 hours... enjoyed alot... sibm people reading this.,.. say hi to samarth...

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you're Man Utd, in which case you let the other teams get ahead and then start sprinting as they all fall apart.

Re: SIBM 2008 GD/PI experiences - 02-02-2008, 10:17 AM

talk about having a bad day.....
slot :1 pm date: 1.2.08
decent grp.had our pi straight on anf finished by 2:30.
panelist 1 : p1
panelist 2 : lady : l1
panelist 3 ; inquisitive man : im
me

l1 : tell us about urself
me : im all for creativity and logic (and the rest is history)
im : what did u do to to satisfy ur creativity and blah and blah
l1: isnt programming the most creative thing
me : (tell me about it) blah blah ( sl not satisifed)
im : u should hav gone to mica or masscomm course
me : no sibm better and the whys...
p1 : what post do u see ur self in afte MBA
me : brand manager..:argue:
l1 : after MBA ..after 15 months of IT experience...u think u can ???
me : will learn on the job
im : it takes 5 yrs after MBA to becum a brand mgr..what will u do in 0-5 yrs
me : learn frm an experienced fellow..( c'mon i cud giv a better answr)
ok thank you (decent enugh)

then the wait starts..after 4-5 hrs..wen my brain went dead ..didnt get a coffee nd needed one desperately..went blank wen the case study strted..was about a lady ,ambitious, gets married, has a child, mentally challenged ,gets raise in job, husband about to lose job..discuss her options ??
nothing much to talk about..everybody repeating the same points...first time in my life i cudnt come wid a new idea..and guess the whole think wasnt great at all..
then comes the group task..were all blunders surmount..
case of finding rope and making square..
my advice to ppl :
after ur blind folded and asked to search fr the rope somebody decide on a startegy and tell it everybody at that moment coz u get the rope ,atleast we kept shouting and there wasnt any coordination ...a strategy cud be..the holder of the rope once he finds it does not distribute it to the rest of the ppl..but moves towards a wall..then once he is there the rest of the ppl can move towards the same wall and hence come in a lineh..once everybody is in aline making a square should be easy and then u can pass on the rope..should wrk )..we made a decagon by the way..best of luck and keep ur brains active fr those 6 hrs..
