ahem ahem..
I had my interview today at 1 PM.
It all started with the presentation about the insti in an auditorium followed by a psychometric test and an essay for about 200 words about myself.
We were then given chest numbers and sent for the group task.
Our group task was to plan and make a city and the resources in hand were a cardboard , clay and sketch pens and the time limit was 15 minutes.
It was followed by a discussion on the same. Of course something had to be missed out, so the questions were pretty obvious by the panelists askin why dint you include this n that n blah blah.
after some time we were asked to sit outside near the interview rooms.
First Interview.
there were two people. Professor 1(P1) and a young chap(P2) probably from the industry.
The panel was having tea at the time when i went in,
P1 - I cant offer you tea.
Me - Its pretty alrite sir (embarrased)
p1 - You can have the biscuits instead (smiling)
me - Sure sir, wil have it at the end of the interview.
P1 - hmm..in what way would a management degree help you??
Me - blah blah
p2 - but from having a computer's background to tourism industry to the banking industry why management now??
me - blah blah.
p2 - its been 4 yrs since you've passed out!! why an MBA so late??
me - yes sir, I had certain responsibilities to fulfill and my circumstances dint allow me to do an MBA in the past.
P2 - (cutting me in) temme sumthin about your profile.what was the role that you were handling??
me - blah blah.
p1 - I'm an old chap , please explain in detail about what you were handling as if you're speaking to a layman.
me -blah blah
P1 - why banking why did you choose banking?? why not software jobs??
me - Sir, i realised it later that programming was not my cuppa tea, and it just happened by chance that i landed up in the tourism industry and then as i was into sales , I landed up into sales in a BFSI company.
p2 - how many people did you handle??
me - blah blah
P1 - How is your maths??
Me - am an above average student sir.
p1 - software involves a lot of maths and you are not an engineer, is that the reason you did not take up a career in software??
me - no sir,
P1 - you know engineers are good at maths, so they are better at programming.
me - yes sir (huh)
P1 - by the way, where do you want to end up after the MBA??
me - blah blah
p2 - what all other entrances you've written??
me - blah blah
p1 - Did you take any coaching??
me - yes sir.
P2 - what specialisation you want to take??
me - marketing sir.
P1 - why marketing??
me - blah blah
P1 - where do you see yourself in 10 yrs??
me - blah blah
P1 to P2 - you want to ask sumthin??
P2 - No sir, ?I'm done .
P1 and P2 - thank you
me - thank you sir
Second PI
there were two professors P1 an P2.
P2 - (looking at my profile) chaitanya, temme about yourself.
me - blah blah
P2 - pretty diverse profile haan. temme sumthin bout your experience.
me - blah blah
p1 - you should have joined the airforce..you were in the merit list naa.
me - Sir, they rejected me on account for 0.25 eyesight. allthough I was fit enuf for the airforce they offered me the army,which i dint want to take.
P1 - what do you have against the army??
me - nuffin against the army sir but my only priority was flying in the airforce which i dint get, so why compromise and settle for the army??
P1 - okay, where do you want to end up after the MBA ?? in software sales?
me - no sir, I want to do more sales for the banking industry and at better profiles
P1 - but you were also in the tourism industry working for Thomas Cook .So why not tourism??
me - Sir, tourism industry doesn't pay well, but the life is glamorous.
P1 - ahh, is money everything in life??
me - no sir, but i have certain responsibilities to fulfill so i had to look out for greener pastures.
p2 - what was the most challenging task that you faced during your experience in handling people??
me - blah blah
p2 - what were the qualities that helped you handle people better and give me a few examples of demonstration of those qualities during your stint at these companies.
me - blah blah
P1 - what specialisation do you want to take??
me - marketing sir
P2 - teme sumthin about your family background.
me - blah blah.
and it just remained on family background and in the end they asked me if i had any questions for them.
I think it was on lines with the expectation i had from the interview.But I seriously donno whether I've done good or bad.
lets wait for the 1st week of march when final list's out!!
