They wont even bother to look at your file. There was a guy in my group who didnt even carry his file to the interview room. Even I hadnt arranged the certis in my file coz was already too too late for the gdpi...reached at 9:32 and barely managed to attend it.
Guys if U stay in Bangalore u should take the Mondays blues (traffic woes) into account.
Thank god they scrapped the essay part coz I was literally panting as I rushed into the board room...I would have screwed the essay part//

But its always advisable to carry a file (even if its an empty file )

As for my GD...it was super cool...I was in the same group as comingback2life....could make out from the points he has mentioned. As for my PI...I was the last one to be interviewed so all the panel members (from other groups as well) were present. My PI started at 2:50 and lasted hardly 10 mins. For the guys who were in the middle of the list (in my group) the PI lasted approx 20-25 mins but the ones in the beginning of the list and the ones towards the end (moi) had just 10 mins of PI.

Hey there...as I have mentioned above I was the last guy in my group so my PI got over by 3.
But the profs actually announced that If someone has a bus/train/flight to board he could request for his PI to be conducted before others. In that case you would be done with both the rounds by 11

HI do we need to carry any proof of work-ex i mean are they asking for any doc's before going to gd-pi process or only admit card is sufficient.

Hi puys,

The IIFT GD process was one of the best I have seen. One surprise is that there were no IIFT seniors, the profs handled everything. GD was good and PI was excellent. I hope I make it!

the gd experience is one of the best i had in my life the panel was very cordial and welcoming though at one time our group was turned into a fish market it was good to see one of the guys stand up and silence us the interview was very nice questions abt y iift, my work ex and its contribution for the future and abt my family background and who is ur fav cricket playes and something abt gatt which i answered satisfatorily overall it was a good gd pi experience atb to all

Venue Kolkata IIFT..

We reached there around 9:30 and the proces started at around 9:35..
Met Gourav and a few others there.These people are gems and they really helped us..

GD-- the same topic as the prvious posts.. (Changing pattern of the Indian Middle Class)

The froup was about 10 ppl (9 guys and a gal)..GD went quite well but one guy stood out..ret all of us contributed well..The panel was prey happy with our performance..I was prety happy with mine too

3 people P1, P2, P3 (All Men in their late 40s maybe)..

P1 -- So what all calls do u have.
Me--Told (SP jain )
P1-- U dont seem to have IIM calls . Why ?
Me--Some gyaan regarding English being not up to the expectations
P1--If given a choice which one will u join .SP JAIN or IIFT
Me -- IIFT coz of the International trade thing and other gyaan.
P1 -- Do u read news papers. If yes which ones
Me-- I said about Times of India.
P1-- No pink ones eh..
Me-- I told ya I ead economic times but i havent read the todays edition
P1--Dont worry..Its not a test.(Smiles all around)..What do u know about Hang seng, Nikkei, NSE and BSE,.
Me -- Gave a good answr.
P2 who had been disinterestd till now suddenly burst up with activity.
P2 -- What do think about Indian football (I mentioned football as my hobby). DO u think all these foreigners coming in to Indian clubs good for us.
Me--I said yes and defended well.
P2-Suppose a situation arises when all 11 are foreigners.
Me--Need to regulate like the English football board is planning to do..
P2-Extend the situation to corporate world and tell whether there must be regulation in FDI..Tell wheher FDI is good at all.
Me--I said FDi is good but it mjus not be allowed in certain sector.
P2-What about pres
Me-I dont think one should allow 100 percent FDI there.Defended well here.
P2--talk us about WTO.
Me--Told up all that I had mugged up.
P2--What are the bottlenecks of Doha round
Me--Answered well here wih stats..
P2-Thanks you.P3 will u ask something.
P3-Ya..Have u heard of a book called 'Elephants dancing'. (I am from IBM.Hence the question)
Me-Corrected and said. I think It is 'Who says elephants can dance'
P3-So who wrote it and what contribution did he have in shaping IBMs culture.
me-Answered well here agian as had prepard for this
P3-Good.So have u read this book yet.

mine was kind of a stress interview..or atleast i hope it was...
there were 4 panelists. the old prof wasn`t convinced with my idea of being an enterpreneur a couple of years later...also i quoted an incident when i motivated a couple of people and saved a puppy`s life...but he wasn`t convinced..kept repeating all the time -- you are repeating what your coaching guys have told you...wasn`t ready to believe that i haven`t joined any coaching or gd/pi classes..i told him that i hav prepared all by myself...but all in vain..in the end i had to say that maybe i lack the credibility but what i am telling is truth...was stressed up but kept smiling...lets see...

Gd was cool...everyone will get decent time to speak ..so no worries..
for other people the interview seem to go well with just ..
why mba..hobbies ....type of questions getting repeated...

anyway ...no worries...relax and make your best efforts..all the best ..
