Fms 2008 Va N Rc Section Discussions - 15-01-2008, 02:34 PM

Hey fellow puys .
I've been posting regularly on the FMS 2008 discussions thread, and after 40 odd pages it is pretty apparent that people are asking the same questions as discussed before (referring to the VA n RC section), and i dont blame 'em coz it is very strenuous to go through the "gargantuan" amount of posts and find what you want to know..So, heres a thread for the VA n RC section particularly of FMS 2008..
I've got a couple of requests:
-I would be posting as much as i can recall as it keeps coming back, but any of ur additions/corrections would be highly appreciated
-Plz avoid being "inarticulate" and reposting about stuff that has already been posted and asking questions that have already been asked..
Ok here we go anyway..

Ok, i seem to have got temporary amnesia reg the paper but some of it is coming back ..so here it is..

These are the answers im 100% sure about..(correct me if im wrong)
who was INARTICULATE(which means lacking tact):
the guy(rakesh ) who was answering in monosyllables -yes/no in the interview
who used a PSEUDONYM(which means an assumed name)-William something ...used O henry as a pseudonym
who Spurned(didnt use) an ACRONYM(which means the short form)- The gal who lost the quiz coz she wrote World Health organisation instead of WHO and thus wasted time.
Who went on a DIATRIBE(which means a verbal assault): the teacher who scolded the students for 15 mins.
who made an abstract term CONCRETE: the guy who showed sales figures and made the other person also believe that it denoted "Success"(viz making an abstract term concrete)..
who used a CLICHE(which means an overused expression):Sujata, the gal who always said -"you're free to call me"..despite her friend warning her against the overused expression.
who used a MAXIM(which means a proverb/saying):the guy who told his team to "look before you leap"

Now for the ones that im not a 100% sure about but pretty sure nonetheless:
who used OXYMORON(which means a contradictory expression)- the mother who called herself a "mean mother" for being strict when it was required..
who used a PEJORATIVE(degrading/depreciative) sentence-the husband who asked her wife"what are u doing behind my back"; when all the poor lady was doing was planning a surprise for him..
EPONYM(which means using something as inspiration for naming another thing for eg the name "ROMULUS" used as inspiration for naming "ROME")-dont recall exactly but its most probably the guy(abel?) who discovered something (tasmania?) and then used a name to name the place..

puys are free to make corrections and quote this as necessary.cheers .will post more English questions as it keeps comin back..
Cheers

a coupla more off the top of my head:
Counterfeiting RC:

Suitable title of the counterfeiting RC:
The Irony of Counterfeiting in Developing economies(or something like that)..irony is the key word

SUGGESTIONS for the counterfeiting problem:
-the home country should clap down hard on the counterfeiters..(the other close option was MOU btw the counterfeiters n orginal makers which didnt seem feasible somehow..:S)

Who Benefits from counterfeiting:
-the Counterfeiting org owners(the other options were-no one, underdeveloped countries, the employees of counterfeiters)

WHY Russia is struggling in software field:
options were: (a)the abundancy of counterfeiters,(B) the home banks not using modern software , (C) dont recall (D) all of the above..
I dont remember which one i marked .sorry.. prob one out of B or D..help..

Problem that the DBT therapy might face:
The therapy requires a highly skilled and trained psychotherapist at all times and that might be a problem..(the other close option was cultural differences btw the doctor n patient makin it difficult)

SYNTHESESIA PASSAGE:
which artists assosciated Emajor with Blue
-mascowski and alexander emishska (haha dont remember the names..BUT it was the two artists with weird names..no BOB dylan in there which left just one option..)

Which cluster experiences Synthesesia:
some infants, artists, n drug takers..

which is false
a.bright colors is related to loud sound
b.light colors with sum other sounds
The answer was one out of the remaining two options..sorry cant recall.

the best definition of synthesesia
a.something woven like a muslin garment with overlapping threads or something :S

Some Random ones:
MARK TWAIN:My mind is so huge,it takes a week to make it up..shows:
-His Inability to make decisions quickly

Something about lie is not consistent, consistency is unnatural etc etc(dont recall):shows:
-Change is necessary/natural (or something like that)..

will add more as it comes..
cheers
