A lot of people are asking about IIT K MBA program and here I wish personally to combine all the answers and here i present a page from my diary .. although i have posted it before in response to the answers about IIT K MBA program, here is a snap shot.....
1)Infrastructure: The name IIT K itself speaks about the infrastructure. All the facilities of the world (except golf course and race course!) are available here. And we news of funding of Rs 9 crores for Business School or School of Management, you can easily assume the improvement in quality of infrastructure and in Business School Building. As per the vision, this school will have the capability to compete globally with other Business School. The program is already in collaboration with RPI-LBS, United States. Things are in pipe line to increase the collaboration level to the student exchange program.
(Waise i think i will be the first one to go to US thru' IIT K funding )
2)Faculty: The faculty from IIM Ahmedabad , Calcutta and international universities and this is what all I need to say .The course program designed by them truly reflects their finest experience in IIMs and in industry.

I was wondering that during my GD a lot of technical questions would be asked, but I was surprised to hear the kind of questions profs asked. The courses are on the pattern of all the top notch B school of Indian and other global universities.
With this kind of Quality faculty,I can just imagine the kind of contacts they have in this industry and their innovative ways of teaching. The kind of clarity and innovativeness in the thought process I get to learn from these kinds of people proves the true learning of my MBA program.
3)Student Quality: My batch comprises of people who are from one of the best and finest colleges of India. Be it IIT K, IIT R, IT-BHU, ISM Dhanbad( Hey i m from there) , BITS PILANI, MNIT AHAHABAD, DCE, NSIT, JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY and all the major NITs. The kind of quality experiences I get to share with each other adds to my knowledge with the each passing day of my MBA life.
80% people of my batch has industry experience and out of which 36% of the people have more than three years of work experience (this makes me believe that by the time they reach here, they are half managers). If I talk about company I have left Adobe, Reliance Industries, LB, IBM, Hero-Honda, Wipro, TCS, Evalueserves etc for learning in IIT K MBA.

4)Placements: The placements finished in the first day of the month of December and the entire batch was placed in a few hours of that day. ( I m waiting for my prof to approve the placement report, but the Official Report is yet to come out) and the kind of responses I receive for both the MBA batches from the corporate world were well above expectations. All the companies that we called for placements responded well, but we could not make all of them happy as by the time their turn came, the entire batch was placed. Despite the presence of a large number of freshers in senior batch, the corporate people could not resist themselves from offering one of the best packages they offer in all top notch B schools.
5)Industry Interaction: A few days back, Mr Narayan Murthy and Mr. Arun Shourie delivered a lecture to the students. A few days back Director of world Wide IPR operations, Microsoft delivered a lecture. A Chinese Delegation met students in the department a few days ago. And the story continues. With the kind of reputation IITK has, companies and their executives take active interests in interacting with the students.

6)
Activities: The entire MBA program is loaded with a lot of activities and leads to the overall development of the students. Students can organize, initiate, participate and coordinate all these activities through out the year. Be it B-Club, OLYMBIZ, MEGABUCKS, Avant-Garde, various seminars and workshops, you can choose the area where your interest lies. Cultural activities, sports, group get-togethers go round the year. I would say if your interest varies from Spirituality to party animal to creative writing, IIT K is the right place for you.
7)Non Metro Effect: With the starting of direct and regular flights from Kanpur to Delhi, this effect has been nullified as shown and appreciated by the placements activities of this year.
In their views, the time it takes to cross a metro city due to heavy load of traffic is equal to the time it takes them to reach from Delhi to IIT K campus. A lot of questions are being asked about MBA admission, I m answering some of the questions to the best of my capability....this is what they say....
This Year’s cut-off ranks: Highly unpredictable as it depends how the students respond to Business School proposal in IIT K. It can be expected that the ranks will improve this time.
But, I would suggest that the students should not loose hope and try to their best level they can. The GD/PI calls are generally given in large numbers to let every one give a chance to show their potential, skills and talent.
9)Last Year’s Trend: I have already talked about last year’s trend in one of my previous posts. To add that, last year only waiting list number up to 2-3 was cleared and this lead to the disappointment of a lot of students . But this is the way things are!
10)Criteria for calls and selection: Nothing can be said in this regard. GD/PI is based on ranks, college profile, Acads and number of years of experience. And once you are here, the real screening starts and there you have to show the potential. As the number of seats is low compared to the GD/PI calls, only the best among the best is finally selected.
