Your chances are slim, but nevertheless not zero. SO apply , write a good SOP and keep fingers crossed.

You almost have IIT KGP call. I will suggest you to specially take care of SOP and polish it as much as possible as the SOP is very important. This will increase the chances of converting the call.

I really am depressed as another 1 mark would have gotten me a call in IITD and maybe IITB.. Seniors frank opinion required, is it worthwhile to apply for VGSOM in my case considering that I have a fairly good rank? Or wait for next year and try for D/B again?

Congrats on your great rank! You also have work experience and so, stand more than a good chance of getting a call...is its not almost a certainty that is!
Heheh...and yeah, I can understand...how even 1 mark can make a difference...No point in brooding pal...At the risk of philosophising, "Yesterday is but today's memory; tomorrow is today's dream"


Let me be very frank with you...It is only you who can take a call on whether or not to apply to VGSOM this year...Because it is you who knows best about the likelihood of getting a better rank next year...
But then again, since I promised to be frank with you, I think you should go ahead and apply, go through the admission process and postpone the decision of beginning your MBA this year...if you need more time to decide that is...
I would say that amongst the IIT B schools, VGSOM should definitely be a B school to apply to...and then, comparing is what I will refrain from..

And yeah...about the pattern...we can tell you that last year's pattern was as follows:

Three essays breifly describing your
1. Career and Personal Goals
2. Professional Achievement
3. Personal Achievement

Hope that helps...The descriptions were brief...and no word limit was mentioned...But my essays were around 400 words each...

This year, it may be different..Please wait until the form for this year is uploaded...

I think you have a good chance of getting a GD PI call with your rank and work experience..I would suggest that you apply to VGSOM...

Again, I would not like to comment on other Bschools and your chances of getting calls....Please address these queries on the corresponding threads..

As I earlier said, you stand a good chance of getting a call from VGSOM if you apply.. The way you go about applying to individual B schools now is as follows:

1. Get onto the website of the B school you want to apply to under JMET.
2. Download their latest application form for this year (if it has been uploaded).
3. Payment details would be mentioned on the sites...

The VGSOM application form has not been uploaded yet; we will post the link here as soon as it is done..

Please watch this space for more..

And track other Bschools' threads on PG for their application form availibility, chances of GD-PI/admission etc.,

YOu can apply to roorkee, kanpur . IIt kgp gives profile based calls. So You mite get a shot here itself. Do apply and hope for the best.

Hi there,

Frankly, there is only an outside chance for you to get a GD-PI call from VGSOM with your rank...
You may however wanna take that chance...I would suggest that you consider applying (if you're Ok with taking a chance) along with applying to other B schools...
