scorpion_girl... a correction.

SNAP is just an exam. It has sections like Quant, VA & GK. You give the exam, you get a score. That ends your relation with SNAP, the test.

Each Symbiosis institute accepts only SNAP scores for shortlisting the few hundred odd students for GD/PI from the thousands of applications they get. How they shortlist is different for each institute.

For Eg., SIMC takes only the SNAP overall score to shortlist. On the other hand, SCMHRD takes the overall profile, and the SNAP score holds a huge chunk of the shortlisting criteria.

In such a case, it is up to each institute to take the scores the way they want to. Whether they consider sectionals is upto the institute, not the exam. SNAP is just a test. How the results are used is up to the institute, SNAP as an exam does not hold any influence on it.

Thus far, I hope you've understood. Until now, no Symbiosis institute took sectional scores in shortlisting candidates. However, this time onwards, SIBM will be taking sectional scores into account for shortlisting for GD/PI.

I hope this fundamental is clear. 'SNAP' does not have sectionals. 'SIBM' will take sectionals based on 'SNAP' scores.

Regards,
Grondmaster

no one has ever been able to figure out the selection criteria of SCMHRD... they look at the overall package the student comes with befor they take them... look they do take freshers as well as experienced people, but we never get to know what exactly their criteria is...
We know people who havnt got a call at score 78 but others have at 75... look dont take much pain in trying to understand their process... If u r interested then apply and let time take care of the rest...

however for further and more accurate clarifications u can visit their thread and get it clarified...

Hi guys,
I attended the Q&A session organised by SCMHRD in Bangalore this Sunday. They claim that the actual shortlisting procedure is not divulged. The procedure is they shortlist 4000 students based on pure SNAP scores and then based on various criteria which will be decided by a committee they will shortlist 2000 of the 4000 selected for the first round and these are given calls.

Re: Which B-schools under SNAP'07 have you applied? - 11-12-2007, 10:48 PM

I have previously given the link to a page linking to all threads related to SNAP & Symbiosis Institutes. For Institute related queries, please check the threads for each institute. For SNAP queries, please check the SNAP thread. This links to the list of all SNAP & Symbiosis related threads.

This thread is to be kept related to the poll only.

Do not ask any Institute Related / SNAP related queries here.

I request all Symbiosis students and those helping out other aspirants to kindly follow this simple rule so as to reduce clutter around the fourm, and to ease clarity on the queries asked.

Regards,
Grondmaster

Edit: If the thread starter is reading this post, I request him to kindly follow the rules, as well as edit his first post to append this simple instruction to aid future aspirants towards the right pages. - Gronde

Well I am really sorry for the late reply. Was a little held up with work as well as the IIFT results. Anyways they explicitly said that there are no sectional cut offs for SCMHRD. But one needs to get a non negative score and at the same time try to maximise your score. They did add that to be on the safer side try to get in a few in each section. But as I have stressed earlier they said try to maximise your score.
Well regarding the second half of your question the first 4000 will be shortlisted purely based on the overall snap score but that is not the final short list for the GD and interviews. what they will be doing is that from this list of 4000 they will be looking at all those who applied for SCMHRD and from those choose based on your overall profile. includes acads, extra curriculars and possible workex as well to finalise a list of 2000 candidates who will be given calls for interviews in many cities, unlike SIBM which will be in all probability conducting all its interviews only in Pune.
