Querry regarding symbi admissions - 07-11-2007, 04:53 PM

Hello! This is subadra from Chennai.

I have this major doubt regarding admissions to various colleges under symbi umbrella.
What i gathered from all that, that i read abt various colleges (sibm, simc, siib, etc.) is that they all take the snap scores for evaluation, however, each college has separate sectional cut off scores. (For eg, sibm may give more weightage to quants whereas simc may jus gove more weightage to verbal).

So my doubt is this. I am going to be applying for sibm, siib as well as simc, but will be giving the same snap for all 3 colleges. Which means that there are chances that i may lose out on one of the colleges because of the fact taht the weightage differs in each college. (For eg, because am applyin for sibm, which requires a high quant score, i have to do well in that section. Whereas at the same time, simc may not require that. So i may be losing out over another candidate who is, say, applying ony to simc, and therefore neednt concentrate much on quants section.)

How do i prevent this from happening? It'd be great if someone could help me on this
Cheers

Welcome to PG...
YEs, you are right that there are different cut-offs for the colleges..But i m not sure about the sectional cut offs. Also, you probably missed out the fact that SIBM has the highest cut-offs. So, I would advice you to concentrate on the all section equally and give your 100% as you really dont know, what are the cut offs/sectional cut 0ffs for different colleges.

All the best.
