Right calculations rahul190685..but I guess a wrong conclusion.
All colleges in India have waitlists..and they will keep coming out till they feel that they filled up the required number of seats. No use having seats vacant. As far as people not taking up seats is concerned..that is probably because MBE results came out pretty late. So i guess either most ppl took admission in some college or decided to have another go at MBA season 2008.
Many ppl dont turn up for the interviews of programmes as elite as IMT G ( I can bet on this..You want the guys id..let me know..) Its all a matter of personal perception...I also know someone who didnt join FMS ( A final convert ) Its entirely a personal decision based on what one thinks is good for his/her career goals.
As far as the course is concerned...Its not an MBA degree. Who claimed it was one in the first place? Its A mix of MBA and some papers on MA (Economics) and the degree offered rightly confers upon the passing students a Master's Degree in Business Economics. Adding on further to it the ppl joining MBE are very much sure abt the course they are about to join/have passed out; and the career alternatives that it can open or shut out for them.
I can say that very confidently for sure as Im also joining the course.
PS - You certainly dont sound like a newbie. I frankly feel ur not one.
