Hi,

If you are a BE in IT, then you should not be scared of technology :-) . Actually, although the main focus of academics is on Telecom, SITM is a real technology business school. The goal is to impart techno-managerial capabilities in students. And for most engineers, getting into a technology company is the first choice.
Technology is a differentiator for you in the MBA competition as there are non-tech graduates also in the race. So, I feel engineers should stick to it. And remember that its not necessary that you will be doing any technical work in such companies. Remember, you will be a manager, not an engineer.

About the placements, generally, bulk of the students get into IT, Telecom and consultancy cos. But in the past, alumni have ventured into Finance, Banking, Media and other verticals too. Thats the benefit of an MBA. the sector is not restricted too much.

You can chose any other field also, you will just have to adapt too it.

Firstly, you cannot compare directly SITM to any other general MBA course. And as you are now entering post-graduation, have to have a somewhat clear focus. If you want to get into Finance, HR, Operations, then SITM is definitely not for you. As there is not a very distinct focus on these specializations.

SITM focusses on Systems and Marketing in Telecom Management.

Apart from that, You should go through the SITM website to compare the two colleges. being an alumnus, I can tell you SITM has world class facilities. It is a residential MBA course in a modern newly built campus with all luxurious amenities you can wish for. It shares the campus with SIBM and SIMC. And the lavale campus is the main campus of Symbiosis.

Apart from this, on all parameters like, Placement profiles, packages, brand, education quality, etc.. SITM can easily better Alliance. SITM grads get profiles,which mostly, are the same that are offered in IIMs by tech companies when they go thr for placements. So you can imagine the reputation of SITM.

And SITM has had a record of 100% placements since inception, 12 years ago. And you cant compare it to b-schools not even displaying avg. packages of the previous batches. And mind you, all figures quoted are genuine, not inflated ones, like in other mediocre b-schools.

So make a good decision for yourself. Good luck..
