yes u can make it to a manufacturing however it all depends on the company and the type of profile they are searcing... IT guys have shifted to manufacturing... manufacturing to IT.. telecom to financial services... it all happens out here... so it all depends upon how u impress the interviewer regarding ur shift in line... its possible... so no need to panic regarding it...

apart from the regulars like HR MARKETING and finance, we have operations, services, telecom, retail, mass communication, internatiional buisness, IT management to name a important ones

The institutes which solely focusses on super speciality are NITIE, SIIB, IIFT, SIOM, SITM, SIMC etc. and are very few in nos.

however i dont understand ur hurry in trying to get this info as ur option for selecting ur specialisations is almost an year from now unless ur looking for the super speciality colleges..

HI buddy thnx for ur reply.....but reason why i m asking abt specialization....coz

1.I have done engg from Industrial Production Branch, and now i am selecte dinInfy. So want to abt various specializatins that cud justify my IT exposure god forbid i dnt get thru this year.

2. My target is NITIE so dat way u can make out i am inclined towards OR field.

3. Plannig to apply to SPJAIN,,,and they require specialization NOW!

Hi D&G and the members of SIOM,


I am not clear on the specialization thing mentioned at the website. Since the entire course is OM special...how that again we have specialization involved.
Are we segregated by the specialization at the end of the course or its for the compentancy at the placements.

What will be option if I select HR...... is it that only HR jobs will be opened or else what???
I know its an silly question, but compared to the other colleges the course without any specialization here at SIOM is itself a OM specialization.

have a couple of q's...was going thru this thread and there was a post where it mentioned that SIOM incorprates SAP into its course...what id like to know is what exactly in SAP is being incorprated...and does it lead to some kind of certification.
There was also mention on APICS...so wanted o know if they help with the certification or are they just endorsing it...

Also want to know as to what the chances are of getting into IT Consulting in the SCM domain after completing the course as that is the main reason why i wanna opt for SCM or OM specialisation.

My profile:B.E NIT,have 2 yr work ex with ABB in projects...then shifted domain...wana get back to SCM

our course is super-specialisation.. takin HR or Marketing or Finance as a electives jus adds up to ur competency...

its not that u will be opened up for only HR jobs or Finance jobs only and respectively... ur good for everyone depending upon the profile the companies are seeking...

hey guys
sry for joining late but i must say in my defence that all d ams nd 5 viva's each day r to b blamed too....anyway the thread has started n we must all thank our senior for that...have been on PG frm d time i was planning to do MBA n i must say our seniors took a lot of pain to reply to our queries n helped us in choosing a college as good as SIOM...i must say "SIOM ROCKS"....myself,D&G n oue seniors will try n reply to all d queries that wud b put up here......

as far as couple of questions regarding SAP n APICS go ...there is no certification program as such....a workshop of 15 days is organised where in u have pple frm topmost companies comin in to teach u in various modules....with regards to APICS ,siom nashik is d main center in which this xam is conduted ...we have specialists frm d industry takin classes to teach us ...we jus had our first module xam last week...siom provides only a helping hand , u need to study urself to clear it....

hope some of ur doubts have been cleared...rest our seniors who r a lil busy wd TATTV wud b posting soon n wud b writing in detail.....

take care guys n prepare well n prepare hard for snap......

Hi to all..

This is getting more active..As Rahul says, Life at SIOM is a good mixture of Fun, Frolic and lotsa learning. More than anything else u get to learn how to manage time effectively.. Our day begins at 6 o'clock in the morning with yoga/workout, followed by reguar classes. Our evenings are fulla activities again..

We have a vey hectic schedule yet we luv evey moment of it..!

adding to what rahul has quoted all APICS modules are covered in SIOM in 4 semesters... FULLY... so uhave the guidance available and not jus another centre for the exam...

its upto u to take it in addition to ur regular course...
