Hi,
The business plan is not required for MA (HR) it is required for only MA(Social service). This is clearly mentioned in the form as only buisness plan is needed only for MA (Social Service). We need to write only biographical sketch....

Hi guys, please guide as to what all should be included in the biographical sketch and what is the purpose it exactly serves. As per the brochure, it helps the panelists know about the candidate , his interests etc. But does it to some extent drive the interview calls.

By asking for you biographical sketch they are just asking you to quote your life somewhat in a manner which reflects you.....something like a biography you read......they should be able to know that who is sitting infront of them.......
I have faced such a situation 2 years back and hence I tell you that this is the most important paragraph you will ever write in order to get into TISS......they actually value it very heavily.
One person from the panel will actually keep reading it again and again while your interview is on...and they will try to correlate what you are speaking and whats written.
They will always try to know that why have you written such a statement .... and so on.

so the only thing I can say right now is that - Dont write something which you are not, because you will be caught if you are trying to do so.

Thanks sarji, so we need to be just ourself but still there can be so many things to write about.

Some of the key points not to be missed would be -
-Educational background
-Achievements
-Interests, hobbies
-Work Ex
What else can be included here ?

Should we also mention the reason for applying to TISS particularly.

My opinion would be to also include at least one social aspect of your....because you are afterall applying to an institute which is all about social service.........and this should not look like a reason why you are applying at TISS or for that matter it should even not look like you are trying to seel yourself by quoting it.....be neutral in whatever you are saying. Also, just keep it mind that finally the same paragraph will be read by a panel whose avrage age will be more than 50 and all those people will be among the best known academicians in the field of social studies.

Just read and re-read whatever you have written....and then start thinking about all those question and the impressions you will leave on them.

I must add that.......treat it as THE Paragraph which should be told to someone in order to tell about you ... if you die today....... (sorry for such a bad example, but I believe thats what it should be like)

On the contrary I feel that a teaching experience is very much in sync with the HR profession.........I feel that teaching is a form of social service.....and if you have this experience then its an asset you have.
Now the next point is that you have to make it look more like an extension of the services you want to provide to this society after gaining this degree from TISS.
It should never look like you are bored of your current job and all you want is a break from this job and also an entry into corporate.

Think about these points, and then start working on your thoughts. You will have some wonderful piece of the final outcome.

One clear advantage you have right now is that - Your profile is different from the 90% of the junta.....because these 90% will be engineers....... so just believe in the edge you have.....rest everything will be fine.

And your application will get rejected only when you have applied without even qualifying their minimum percentage criteria. I guess thats 50% throughout.

now
