Hi rohit,
There is no other place where you can get the forms. They are available only with the special counters of IITs.
So, better you go for online application. It will be hassle free & fast.
Now, coming to your questions,
The way IITs & IIMs test vary. But, the parameters (sections) are the same except for quant. The following analysis might help you. The trend is from analysing the last 2 JMET papers.
VA - Relatively easier to CAT. But it was tricky last year. We consumed more time & scored less. Grammar, Jumbled sentences, Synomyms & Antonyms were asked consistently for the last 4 yrs.
RC - The CAT RC is too logic oriented. JMET does the same but with lesser intensity. Last year, the length of the passages was similar in both the exams.
Reasoning - The JMET like reasoning will not be tested in CAT. JMET reasoning includes puzzles, logical questions, syllogisms. It is a high scoring section. Some times DS will be clubbed with reasoning. The syllogisms were difficult to crack. Take a mock paper & go thru them. U get an idea as how to crack them.
DI - It was always easy. JMET & CAT DI differ in the level of difficulty. While CAT mix DI with reasoning, JMET does not. JMET tests your speed calculation skill like anything. Most of the rankers of JMET scored 20+ in DI by investing 20-25 min.
Coming to your third question,
Yeah, the quant cutoff will be lower. But, let me tell you people struggle to find the easy questions, expecting a higher cutoff, which was not the case. Last year, most of my batch mates spent 20-25 min., identified 7-10 easy questions (from both arithmetic+higher maths), solved them & scored 5-9.
Once your CAT is completed, go through Vectors, Complex nos., Heights & Disctances, Matrices, Definite Integrals, Derivatives, Limits etc.
The online registration will be active on IIT Kharagpur link from 3 sept onwards. I'll be editing the first post giving you the link.
Stay in touch & resolve all the doubts that you have regarding your preparation.
Cheers,
