Hi all,
JMET is out with its notification for admission to IITs and IISc. It will soon be seen in the print media.
The details for this year are:
Test Date: Dec 9 2007
Results: By Jan 4 2008
Organizing Institute: IIT Kharagpur
Online registration begins on 3rd September 07 and would cost Rs 750/-
JMET forms will be available at various SBI branches from 7th September 2007 onwards.
The forms would most probably cost Rs 800/- for General Category and Rs 350/- for SC/ST's
Any queries related to JMET and DoMS@IIT Roorkee should be directed on this thread.

Hullo friends
Feel free to throw any sort of querries ( as we even were quite stupid to ask such silly questions that we must have infuriated our seniors but they were quite cool and sincere to answer us).
Following the ideologies of our seniors ( to resolve the anxities), we wish u to ask any sort of questions regarding DOMS, IITR. We are here to look upon ur querries.
So no need to be in dilemma, just shoot off ur querrie........
Thanx and regards

Hi Yogesh,
I shall answer your query as per the points mentioned by you:
1. Campus :
Well..IIT R has arguably the best campus among all the IITs...you have to be here to experience it..and m sure u won't deny my point....With regards to facilities offered at DoMS..we have all the facilities that one can expect in a prominent b-school...be it wi-fi connectivity, access to lotsa online journals or others......rather...i can say that being a part of an IIT...facilities can never be an issue...you ask for somethin n u have it over here...
2. Faculty :
Faculty @ DoMS, IITR is good...though the no. of core faculty is a lil on the lower side...that is made up by the availability of insititute faculty who are at times the HODs of other departments at the IIT, thus being among the best in their domain....Apart from this...we have lotsa guest faculty cumin frm industry as well as other b-schools..In addition...we regularly have guest speakers from various backgrounds who share their views on diverse subjects....
3. Placements :
Placements is an important factor when a student chooses a b-school...that was true for me too...Over the last 2 years...DoMS has shown arnd 30% growth rate in terms of salaries which is perhaps among the best in the nation...you can get a detailed placement report at http://www.iitr.ernet.in/departments/DM/placement07.htm
4. Admission cutoffs :
The competition to get into DoMS, IITR is getting stiffer every year...in the year batch ogf 2006...the last person to be called for gd/pi was somewhere in the ranks of 2600 in jmet...which came down to arnd 1950 this year...so i guess the trend is quite visible...
To sum it up...all I can say is that DoMS, IIT R is definitely a good option for you to consider...With the kind of facilities n learnin tht one gets over here...it definitely becomes a memorable span of 2 years for an MBA student...
FYI...I too am from Mumbai...and had an exp of 2 years with Patni...so I guess I can co-relate with ur case as we have kinda similar profiles....I had chosen DoMS, IITR over some other b-schools that are perceived to be better and m happy wid my decision....! Wish you all the best for Jmet preps...!!

Jmet Online Form Query -
15-09-2007, 12:51 PM
Hey junta, I applied for JMET online. During the application procedure i've committed mistake in writing address of my house. Help with these queries.. 1) Is it possible to edit the application form?? If yes, how?? 2) I tried applying online again with the same dd, it says that already there exists another application in ur name. Is there any way to cancel tat application? 3) If i dont post the old dd to iitk, nd if i make another dd and apply thru offline, will my application be valid?? Plz answer these queries and also tell me if there is any better way of solving this problem... Plz respond quickly..

Hi,
I can suggest you some options to do...
U could write to VGSOM addressing them regarding the change of address quoting the application number that u must have got
U wud definitely not be able to register again on the site
Ill get back to u for ur third query after confirming wat wud be the status of ur application in case u dont send the dd and then send a form though offline..
Although i wud still suggest u to write to VGSOM for the change of address... and asking them to acknowledge..
I hope my advice helped u
