NMIMS Aspirants 2008-2010 -

ok guys i am starting the thread for nmat 2007 on the base of which nmims will admit students for 2008-2010 session.
nmat is going to be hld on 30th dec in the morning...the paper will be of two hours
till last year nmat used to be of two and half hours with 5 sections of 40 marks and 40 quesions each
these 5 sections are quntative ability,english understanding,general awareness,data interpreation and logical reasoning.
there are no sectional cut-offs.
overall cut-off last year was 69.5.
so post your queries and doubts and let the discussions begin

thanks fringant for starting this thread..i want to have more insight on the level of NMAT...sectional cut-offs(if any..and which i doubt..would be)...level of GK...and other sections..any special topics(apart from GK)to be prepared for this exam...roughly the number of people sitting for NMAT...number of seats...and anything else which i missed...i know you might not have answers to all of them..but anything will help...and i guess rest will be taken care by guys studying in NM....anyone listening???

Can anyone tell me abt GK section....what is the weightage of this section in the aggregate....or its score will be add or not.....coz have heard abt GK section in MAT in which there is no weightage for GK in the aggregate......have no idea y these people keep this section n there is no weightage for it....it is just a wastage of time.....can anyone list out the name of exams in which GK is there n there is no weightage for it......

In nmat gk has 40 questions..1 markers all of 'em..as there are no sectional cut offs you can chose to ignore gk but since in a test where time is of paramount importance gk should be worked on..as it can fetch you 15-20 marks in a matter of 5 minutes...

can any one plz tell me tht do nmims has separate seats for core mba n other prog like retail, capital market etc.........is it like 240 seats for FT mba n separate seats fr other programs like retail n capital markets ......wat is the total cut off marks including gd-pi n hw mnay seats r there for mba- retail................

when will be the forms come out??? how long is the paper 2 or 2.5 hrs?? how many seats are there for gen category??
well this is the only exam i didnt give last year, so dont have much info

my gyaan on nmims and nmat
i took nmat last yr and will be takin it this year also..last yr i missed the cut off by 10 marks..i know thats pretty bad
1. in nmat u ll have verbal-gk-quants-di/lr in any order or even the questions may be mixed up
2. Last yr verbal was easy, quants was avg with more sums on profit loss and some sums on force-mass-physics..di/lr was average..it was not very easy
3. comin on to gk- it was almost an india specific GK..lot of current affairs and very few hardcode old age gk...it was mix of politics, indian consti, business, sports and others
4. 200 questions..so u got to be really fast..usually the cut off will be close to 80..only last time it was around 70 or 69.5
5. nmims has close to 240 seats and almost 204-210 comes under open category...u got to score atleast 10-15 or sometimes 20 marks higher than the cut off so that even if ur performance if avg in gd/pi and even if u ve less work ex u ll get a seat..else if u ve jus cleared the cut off then u got to perform very well in gd/pi and the other psychometric test they conduct and work ex will be an added adv
6. once u get selected u need to pay 1000 bucks and register for gd/pi:neutral:
overall...nmat is not very tough to crack if ur doin a good amount of prep for cat...u can concentrate on gk after cat or if ur jus goin thro newspapers thats more than enough as of now...and nmims is one of the top ranked school...a+ according to TIME..

the exam is for 2.5 hrs...(if i remember it rite..)
forms will be out by mid sep or early october

notifications will hopefully be out by mid september.exams most probab on 9th december
for nmims..
last yr.mba core had 240 seats..retail,pharma,actuarial,banking,global business and services had 30 seats each..so that makes it 420 seats in all..there was a managment quota of 15%..no other quota what so ever...

read somewhere on pagalguy tat JMET is also on 9th dec ..so will there be a clash of dates or will NMIMS look 2 avoid such a clash
