To clear some doubts about NMAT and NMIMS i had taken Nmat last year it is a 2.5 hour paper with equal weightage to Quant, logic,english,di and gk.

The paper is easier than cat however you must aim to score high especially for people with less than 2 years of work exp try and get in the first 500 ranks and then have a good gd pi.

NMIMS has sectorial courses which have 180 seats so there are 240(core)+180 sectorial 240 core= 204(open) + 36 management quota a merit is declared for the same the fees is 9.5 lakhs for two years and generally the list closes within the top 1500 final nmat ranks.

One thing to remember is everything right from your hall ticket to GD/PI call letter to Final Score card will be given online NMIMS doesnt send a letter even for confirmed admits.So one has to bear the printing charges.

Last year the cutoff was 69.5 however realistically 75+ should be your target score and for a fresher it should be 82+ based on last years marks. The paper was tougher than the previous years for the 06-08 batch the cutoff was 80.

One has to pay seperately for gd/pi another 900 to 1000 bucks it keeps on increasing every year.

Speed is one the main criteria in cracking NMAT concentrate on it GK can be the make or break section majority of the classes provide GK material please refer to them and remember in nmat a difference of one mark sets you back about 30 to 40 ranks and even higher in some cases.

There was a CBT Computer based test conducted the previous year which was very simple the test was for only those who clear the written test.

Nmat forms will be available in one of the major banks it was Dena Bank last year for those staying in Mumbai they can collect it from NMIMS too.

In nmat gk has 40 questions..1 markers all of 'em..as there are no sectional cut offs you can chose to ignore gk but since in a test where time is of paramount importance gk should be worked on..as it can fetch you 15-20 marks in a matter of 5 minutes...

last time nmat and jmet were on the same day..morning jmet and afternoon nmims..guess that ll be the same this time also

Are there any branches of NMIMS or its just at Mumbai..When i googled i got a link at some ahemdabad address, i was in hurry so didnt check out other things. So just clearing my doubt.

And which one is CONSIDERED (perception) better KJ Somaiya / Welingkar / NMIMS.

Sorry if its OT but how can the above 3 be ranked overall..

Please refrain making comparisions even perception based on the forum visit the websites of the respective institutes to get a better idea talk to seniors or faculty of classes. There is no branch in ahemdabad as of now only in mumbai

It was just that no-one from respective insti's will state that thier coll is bad. So wanted a general view, besides visiting the websites wont yield anything regarding thier teaching or what not.

Still i guess ill check thier placement figures.

dipen i'll just comment about nmims and not compare other b schools...

nmims is a mighty fine b school and it's not easy to get in nm..last year some very brilliant puys missed out on nm so dont take nmat lightly..

i cleared the writen stage last year but faltered at the gd/pi and there was real tough competion at the gd/pi stage..i remember people with multiple iim calls attending the gd/pi of nm...

there's no gujju quota,however in the form for the gd/pi they ask whether you are gujju/non gujju leading many to believe that there is indeed some quota...

nm has no branches what so ever...

i think nmat will be held most probab on 9th dec in the afternoon but we can't be sure till the notifications are out...

about the duration of the exam..i remembered it of as two hours but dda aka daredevilankit corrected me by saying its 2.5 hrs...
i hope that you like the name i have given,dda...and yes keep up the good work by answering queries of those who did not appear for nmat last year..
