Re: Xat 2008 - 06-06-2007, 06:29 PM

Well it is nice to see a dedicated XAT thread being opened finally! Good job sirsij...

I will just give u some figures now---

1. In the 8 mocks i wrote for CAT(n XAT) , i had 99.5 and above in 4. By the way i missed both the SimXATs due to some personal reasons.

2. In spite of such confident figures behind me, i found XAT 2007 a very tough exam. It shows from the fact that i could ATTEMPT only 41 questions in all... u have seen it right... no typo here

3. my Attempt breakup was : English 18, DI-LR 12, QA 11 !!!

4. The English cutoff for PMIR (the only course i had applied for that is) was 96.6+ and with those 18 attempts i had scored 98.9%ile in the English section... and the 11 attempts in QA gave me a 92.33%ile.

All i wanted u to know thru these figures is that there is one thing which is of extreme importance in XAT and that is ACCURACY! Frankly speaking i have never SCORED as low as 41 in any of my Mocks and thus it was very difficult to keep up the self confidence after attempting 41! However, i have learnt that with XAT it is not how many u do but more importantly how well u do them!

I know loads of friends who attempted more than 20 questions in English and ended up with not crossing the cutoff. And there are similar cases for QA as well... So basically even if u find the paper to be tough, DO NOT give up and fight well

All The Best!!!

Regarding the Verbal Ability Section in XAT... is it more reasoning oriented like CAT or do we have questions related to words like antonyms, synonyms?

thanks in advance!

You know, you stand a great chance of cracking MBA exams after an experience of 5 years. What matters at this point in time is that you just brush up some basics and get in tune with the exam patterns. Thats it!

Join some test series for CAT and XAt.....and follow up things religiously......you will surely make it to where-ever you wish to see yourself.

Take care
bye!

Re: Xat 2008 - 15-07-2007, 11:20 PM

if I can remember well (my last experince in XAT 2007).......VA was tough.....and infact it had some special type of qustion which was tying to test the business logic (questions like which is the best option to this situation)........
Anyways...........VA was tough from all standards..........and it needs special practice for sure...it was quite different from CAT.............
