Xat 2008 - Queries and Discussion

Hi, I have a queries regarding application form to be filled for XAT.
I am applying to XLRI only.
Do I have to post these 2 documents along with their respective attachments ?
1. XAT payment cum photo form (XATPA form)
2. XLRI payment advice form (XLRIPA form)
Is there anything else as well ?

Yes sir, you'll need to send the forms.

The procedure as listed by my friend a few pages back should remove all doubts i hope.

1) Go to SBI, buy the XAT form
2) With the form number .. go to www.xlri.edu
3) Register for XAT by clicking on the XAT registration link in the left pane of the webpage
4) Fill up the details

For applying to XLRI (Yes, you have to apply for XLRI separately just as you apply separately for MDI/SP Jain/NITIE or any other insti when you take CAT )

2) With the form number .. go to www.xlri.edu
3) Register for XLRI by clicking on the XLRI registration link in the left pane of the webpage
4) Fill up the details
5) Take a printout of the XLRI PA form
6) Send the PA form to the XLRI office
7) If you crack XAT, you will get an interview call for XLRI and if you get through the interview process then I will see you in Jamshedpur

and I dont think you will get the actual XAT paper, because XLRI guys dont believe in giving the paper to the candidate after the exam is over. So in this case you will have to ask those people who did attempt XAT in last few years andstill remember the questions (at least a few of the questions).

And in case you are able to get those papers then please do share it with me too.

i m neeraj , want to give xat this yr.but i am confused about the forms , i mean that there the form is of 750 bucks but i can apply to only three institutes only in it . how can apply for more than 3 and which institutes should i go for?

XAT exam fees is for 700, and after that you can choose to apply for so many institutes which accept XAT scores......and some of the reputed names from that list are:
1. XLRI, Jamshedpur
2. SP Jain, Mumbai
3. XIM,Bhubneshwar
4. GIM, Goa

hello everybody....i am a new member...working for the past 4 months..completed my graduation this year...i am not giving CAT this year...so XAT is the only exam i am givin this year...so can sumbody please help me out hw shd i start preparin..i did give CAT as well as XAt last year but at that time i dint study specially for xat as such....ne practice papers nebody can suggest? coz as far as i know IMS gives its material for these extra exams only afterCAT...

Hi guys. Well, i've got the XAT form but someone else got it for me. So the bank pay-in-slip has that person's name and address. Is it fine if the name on the slip and online PP form do not match? Pls reply. Thanks

Try downloading old papers from this site itself. There are a few links in the starting posts of this thread for the same. As well as search for previous years xat papers in this website and CL/PT/IMS website. Also check with friends and colleagues for XAT specific material (generally mock papers to be tried at home and a few booklets tailored for XAT) given by various coaching centers.

Start practicing as if you were preparing for CAT only. After everything, the main thing to remember that both XAT and CAT exams target the same set of skills, hone them.

Shouldn't be a problem. As far as i perceive the pay-in-slip is to check that the form was bought from a credible source (i.e. that bank branch)
For safety purpose, write your name on the pay-in-slip something of like "Bought by XYZ for <your_name>".

Puys, due to various reasons, it might not be able for us to reply back to your questions asap. There are no rules over here such that answers to various queries should be given by the senior members or xl grads only.
