AICTE notification regarding refund of fees paid. - 05-05-2007, 05:03 PM

HI,
As per AICTE notification No:AICTE/Legal/04/01/2007, if you have paid any or part of the 1st or 2nd installment fees of any institute and then for some reason, if you choose not to join, then you are eligible to be refunded in FULL MINUS 1000/- as processing fee. So if you have paid say, 30000 bucks to XYZ Inst and then get admission to ABC Inst which is better and decide to join there, XYZ HAS to repay 29000 to you.
I had paid 37500 as 1st installment fees to an institute that had a "No Refund" policy and then forfeited the amount after I secured admission to a better B School. But after i sent them a fax along with a copy of this notification, i recieved a cheque for 36500 within a week.
So if you intend to change Institutes after paying some money to the first one, remember, the institute can keep ONLY 1000/- and HAS to refund the rest to you.
Thanks
