Orientation Programme for New Batch of PGDM (Executive) Organized

A two-day orientation programme was inaugurated for the seventh batch of PGDM (Post Graduate Programme in Management) Executive at IMT on 29 June, 2007. PGDM (Executive) is a 15-month, fully residential, AICTE-approved course for professionals with minimum 5 years of work experience. The batch intake is 60 students and the trend of professionals from best corporate brands of the country opting for this course at IMT continued this year also with executives from leading corporate houses joining the course. Government organizations such as Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Army, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) are also represented in the current batch.
The batch of 2007 was welcomed to IMT with a series of events during the orientation programme that sets the tone of life at IMT. The inauguration of the orientation program for the batch was held in the IMT campus on 29 July, 2007. The august occasion was graced by Mr. Rakesh Kumar, COO at Moser Baer India. Dr. B. S. Sahay, Director IMT Ghaziabad, Dr. D. P. Goyal, Dean Academics, Dr. Rajiv Thakur, Chairman Admissions and faculty members and staff were there to welcome the new batch to the institute.
Mr. Kumar shared his views on management education, executive management courses and the expectations the industry has from the management graduates. He also discussed the present job scenario and the need for hiring and retaining the right kind of talent. Mr. Kumar also emphasized the value of education and actively supported the module of management programmes for executives wherein the right mix of education and prior work experience meets the requirements of industries at various levels.
In his address, Dr. B. S. Sahay strongly emphasized the need of quality education and the quality of student intake at IMT Ghaziabad. He also supported the fact that there is a sharp increase in the demand for management graduates with prior work experience. PGDM (Executive) at IMT has grown from a small batch size of 23 students in 2005 to 38 in 2006 and full strength 60 with a long waiting list in 2007.
The inauguration was followed by a series of presentations from the area heads and the course coordinators. The presentations covered the details of the entire academic modules. Later the new batch was also updated on the various clubs and committees. The two-day orientation also includes management and business simulation games, case studies and outdoor team-building activities.
