i got a call..the first call for me...ever....and yeah i was not expecting it ...cos at a score of 95.xx with a break up of 98....DI, 94......VA, and 50 in QA i thot even my work ex of 15 months and domicile quota wudn't help ....feels great to get a call finally..... seniors ..please help me out cos i have to even out my low score too....there's hardly any time left...and no institute ready to get in students for GD and PI classes now......cudn't register earlier cos they needed a cal....please help me sort out things....

congrats for getting the call..

XAT score & GD/PI score have equal weightage for the final admission...so you definitely need to push a little harder...


institutes would still be admitting students for GD/PIs, i guess....but in any case, you should start preparing by yourself as well....go thru the newspaper everyday...ideally, a financial daily and a national daily would be good enuf to prepare for the GDs and wud also be helpful for the PIs...

understand the organisational structure of the company where you were working and be ready to face any work related questions...brush up a bit of acads...be comfortable in atleast one subject...


apart from this, just try to feel a bit relaxed in even harsh situations..

The code to crack GD/PI on any given day is a)confidence b)knowledge and c)communcation. if u have on that day these 3 things in mind, u will b here(obviously lady luck gotta smile on u).
Knowledge means being cognizant bout urself. current affairs, wat u had in ur graduation(b v sure bout 1 subject atleast) and learning from the dos n donts that both succesful n unsuccesful candis learnd frm their gd n pi... though its easier said than done but thats watz reqd of u. start reading opinion n editorial sections of newspapers(u must ve startd that) n discuss them with ur frenz n family or with urself... this will improve ur communication skills n ull learn 2 accomodate others views n ull find others in the grup listening 2 u 2... then u get ur point across...2 much aggressive behavior n gestures r not accepted by most of the colls.its bout the art of negotiation... gd tests ur behavior in a grup n pi tests u on different aspects of ur personality by ur reactions(thru gestures or answers). so guys! this is the time 2 show what u r n wat u r made of n the time 2 show that u deserve 2 b there..so dont b afraid.now the ball is in ur court!

hey i have a serious doubt.... I was told that the essay written in xat would be considered only by xlri... but in the thread of previous yr's gd/pi experiences it was mentioned that the panelists read ru essay and question u on it.. can u please tell me what the procedure is like this year..
is ximb using the essay or not??

a copy of the essay is made available to the panelists...so u may be asked questions relating to it...

but, there is no weightage attached to the essay in the final selection...it is to be used for reference purpose only...

moreover, if you dont remember what you have written, just be frank to tell that you do not remember distinctly what you had written...and please dont try to bluff or 'faff'...
