i had my gd/pi in mumbai today
so here is goes
the topic for essay was
spirituality regaining momentum in india
i wrote abt , india is famous for spirituality and how after independence lives have become hectic. rat race blah blah. spirituality gives a sence of purpose and perspective.
it is a global phonomenon.
overall a good essay, am happy
i would give myself a 7/8 on 10
the topic for gd was whether govt should allow foriegn universities to set shops in india.
the gd format was the same with the moderation thing. everyone was given a min to start and conclude. one guy in my grp didnt open his mouth at all and one guy was absent.
it was a very well conducted gd. in my time to moderate i had nothing to do as things were going smoothly. it lasted a good 1 hr and we didnt realise.
i would rate myself 7/8 on 10 here too
ok here comes the sad part. the pi
the same panelist were there for pi as the gd

p1: ok tell me something abt urself
me: blah blah
p1:what is molarity?( i am a chem student)
me: totally blabbered
p2: ok how is density measured
me: viscometer?
p1: no that measures viscosity, ok what is the unit of viscosity
p2:what is amino acid
me:amino acid is a biological acid present in our body
p2: i think u are wrong
me: no sir i am quite sure
p1: ok where is it in our body?
me dunno(pls ask me something else god no more chem)
p1: ok atleast tell me what is an isotope
me: told them
p1: so u want to be a manager and u dont know chemistry(smirks)
p2 u like books which was the last book u had read
me: google story by......
p1:suppose u work in a consultancy how would u promote a book written by a foreign author in india

already dejected with the pi) i would advertise it sir
p1: how?
me: electronically
p1: means
me: i would see to that the author and others give interviews and have rave reviews
p2 what are u more comfy with tamil( my mother tongue) or hindi?
me: sir hindi
p2: why?
me: have been living in mumbai for the past 20 yrs thats why
p1 tell me how can u solve the traffic probs in the city?
me: flyovers, slum etc
p1: what frustrates u the most
me: i dont get frustrated easily sir
p1&p2: (laugh and look at each other) thats very good, but still
me: peoeple who dont live upto their words, its hard to trust them
p1: what qualities do u expect in ur peers in office
me: commitment and discipline
p1: ok thank u, u may leave
when i am typing it seems long, but harly lasted for 10 mins.
not very optimistic, i in short scerwed the interview and the chem Q bothered me so much that i was not very crisp and consice abt the other qs too
overall 4/5 on 10
. All i could think of was spirits (Bhoot !). GD was fine but a lot if fish market but alas, the group came to a consensus(people added lots and lots of points..). Interview was cool and has 2 profs in front of me....
