In my batch there were 12 students. Most of the pi was based on acads. One guy who had 99 i stats in 2nd year was grilled so hard in that subject that he was regretting scoring that well. Be prepared with ur grad subjects and nonsensical GK questions. I guess every body is being subjected to a stress interview. Just be urself. I guess i messed up because i really wanted to join IIFM and was under stress due to that and the feedback from other students was discouraging.
One more sugestion. To say thanks use the thanks button. Lets us all try to save the precious harddisk space of pagalguy.

some were asked why iifm and some were not. I don't think gap really matters coz nobody was asked about gap whereas everybody had it. Can't give questionsa asked of others as i'm unable torecall them. but everybody had a different set of questions. Infact panel seemed more interested in knowing what you don't know. I'm form science background. Sorry for the late post. All The Best.

Hello everyone....

I am looking for a changeover to non-profit sector in natural resource management sphere... and IIFM came up on the searches....

I was going through some of the placement related information on this thread... looks like IIFM is attracting lots of profit oriented organizations & the trend is upwards...

Is any info available on the IIFM-placement situation involving non-profit organizations...

hi
If you are looking for career in non-profit sector IIFM is one of the best inst. in country. Almost all the major non-profit organization have some iifm alumni working, though the recent trend in placement (of going for profit orgn) is reflection of students choice and not of lack of opportunity of option or offers from non-profit organization.

Regards
Santosh

hi folks sorry for late post.gd pi was on 13th.the gd topic was a completely shocker IS PHILOSOPHY AN ARMCHAIR THEORY.ye armchair kya hoti hai. the moderators told that anyone could start first and then the person next to him will follow in giving his views on the topic.my no was 9th so i thought that by my time i will have the views of several peope to copy.but the girl just sitting by me started speaking first(typical girls habit)and next was my turn.but i started to speak somehow and spoke of indian philosophy and great indian philosophers(i copied most of that girl).but as gd progressed i had plenty of matter.it was the best gd of my life as every one participated.in pi questions ranged from where is economomy going to what is the govt doing in higher education to do u agree with the exemption limit being more for women in income tax to the emergence of pvt. engg. colleges(iam also from one ) but i defended it. at last a good day.now waiting for result.
i had heard that a lot of alumni are working in world bank and un.is it true(could not find their name in the placement link on the site for 2006 and 2007).also in the prospectus it is written that tcs and pricewaterhouse coopers came to iifm.what will a forest mgmt. graduate do in s/w firm.

nice to hear that you enjoyed the GD/PI.. regarding alumni working in WorldBank and UN.. Yes.. We have several alumni working there but they have not been placed through campus placement so you cannot find the link on 2006/2007 placement links. FYI Worldbank and UN do not recruit from any campus or any freshers, you need to work at grassroot level for sometime to get into them
Regarding TCS and Pricewaterhouse Coopers, these are primarily a consultancy firms specializing in software development but they do work on other areas. Also all software firms employ 'domain experts' apart from software developers to provide input on different functions and domains.

all the best...
