guys,
i would like to re-inforce what my friends have already said on this thread. don't worry too much about the quantz section. there will always be easy questions which you would be able to solve with your CAT preparation. Cutoffs of the Quantz section would definitely not be very high, unless they reduce the difficulty levels (which I don't think is going to happen).
Focus on maximizing your score in the other sections, as the ranks are based on the total score. Just make sure that you do at least the 10-15 CAT type of questions which would be scattered around in the Quantz section.
As for the PI's, don't worry about them for now. We'll hep you out in that once you are done with JMET.
If you owe the bank $100 that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that's the bank's problem.

See although the Qs have a touch eng maths and topics from Intergraa, differential, trigonometry and complex numbers
and given that cutoffs will be low..but still u shud create competitive advantage
for yourself n how??
jus go thru basic identities of trigno, complex and integral....
most of the matrices problem are simplified with one row/column operation and result is
jus a 0 or a 1 or abc..getiing what i am saying
those are not engg problems which we used to fill pages solving but objective types which can be solved in a single step or two....you can easily solve definite integral problems if u jus rember basic formulae that 0 to 2pi integral of sinx is 0 and simplw stuff like that
1+omega+omega^2=??? for complex numbers..and be ready with trignometr
angle of inclination/declination concepats..i remember last year 2 probles came from that
hope it helps :-

Do it..its worth the pain..
dont do if u think u prepared enough to solve most of general quant problems
if u dont like differntial then cover matrices n trigonometry atleast
see other sections will be easier this is where u can gain advantage right??
basic engg probs cud be a sitter if u r even little prepared n every mark counts )

Well gr8 to see these many responses from my class mates :-) all of us reinforce one thing........just treat quant as any other section......and as Nandu bhai said, all the effort u put in brush in ur calculus and complex numbers pays off big time........ppl just ignore these and believe me most of the times these are the sitters in the quant paper......even then if u r not interested in going for a kill in quant, as Epicurean has put it, just look out for cat type questions...........and Verbal and DI shud be cakewalk if ur preparation was up to the CAT level.......same holds true for Logi......the main focus shud be to maximise ur score with making sure that atleast 10 -15 questions are done correctly in quant.......

i must say this is a very useful post for jmet aspirants
thanx to all sjmsom ppl really good work
well as of now u have told us about type of quant questions etc and the level of difficulty
i jus wanna ask is jmet unpredictable like cat
means can there be 4 markers and differential marking
morover it being a 2 hours paper - and 4 sections looks cat strategy will not work here wat say ???
also throw some light on sjmsom placements and the THING required to crack jmet .....

Well the THING required is confidence in Quant.....jsut remember that JMET is given by many enggs like u and me who have lost touch with the basics quite some time back after joining job.......so all are at equal footing and its upto u to turn it to ur advantage by getting basics strong.....other than that, pattern and predictability do not really matter.......if u make sure that u score well across all sections........the test got tougher every year just like cat did.....but who knows? this time even JMET migth throw some surprises.....its all part of game.......regarding placements, for last year details, visit the link below in my signature......or else for this years information, u have to wait buddy

Hmm , good responses on this thread ... i'll join in the party as well !
Well , looks like everyone is a bit worked up abt the quant section... remember , this is not whats going to get u thru in JMET... Have enought practise on verbal and DI , coz if you do , believe me , u can crack almost all of the questions... maybe logical reasoning might be tricky , but DI sets were really solvable last year . Verbal was a cakewalk... U miss out on this , and i'm afraid its trouble.. So , before u go and read those higher math topics , make sure ur clear with verbal and DI.
AFA quant goes, i was not too comfortable with integration , differentiation problems , and so on... But u have quite a few questions of algebra , T&D , geometry etc interspersed...
It boils down to this ... how well u spot the easy one's (i know u'll wud have heard abt this a million times , but its something worthwhile remembering ) .. remember , u dont get more marks for solving a complex high math problem compared to a simple one.
But , try to read through such topics for sure... it wont be a good idea to go into the exam expecting easy math questions and leaving these chapters out...
I think i can stick my head out a bit and say that usually , jmet wont surprise u like cat... the new clause of sectional cutoffs really doesnt change things much .
HARD WORK Never killed anybody , but why take the risk

No, JMET hasnt experimented with its pattern so far. It has stuck to the 4 section 0.25 negative marking funda .. Hence, I wouldnt have expected much changes this time as well. However, the inclusion of sectional cutoffs, might just introduce some changes.
Regarding SJMSOM placements, you can check the last year stats here:
