Hi people....

Trying this 2nd time...hopefully the post wont get scraped
After not making to SCMHRD my confidence has been nicely shaken up.
Only 2 more chances for me to go..
1. FMS
2. CAT

Need help on FMS i.e. Basic info on Sections, Important areas to revise, Cut off's Trends and If they have sectional cut offs etc.

firstly be cool
I went thru ur previous posts and saw that uve also given XAT and IMT, and I guess these results are not out yet,

So there are lot of chances for u, one stupid exam should not shake ur confidence

Lets come to ur specific query, I've not given FMS or any mock FMS but I believe that english is simple and quant is simple too ... anyway ill post more once I give mock FMS in ADMAT by IMS.
As for now just brush up ur vocab and do BRM from IMS or any other study material for quants, just brush up ur fundas and solve simple problems and solve a paper or two, dont go in for tough questions cos they will ask u simple ones only look at XAT this time.

As "ace_bubble" has said, confidence should not be lost just becasue you had an bad day last Sunday. Actually, you never know if it was bad or good till the results are out.
Anyway, prepare on the lines of CAT. AFAIK, the Verbal section is slightly tougher than XAT i.e, their vocabulary section is tough. Generally words which are not so commonly used are asked. Go to wordsmith or Dictionary.com and grab a few lists from their archives and read them. You will get some idea. (Or get going with Barrons). Quant is easier than CAT. (Same type of questions are asked). Not sure about DI. But the GK section is different. (Atleast last year it was). It has more to do with company numbers and market share....

I am not sure about sectional cutoff's. But the general cutoff (last two years) has been around 50%.

There is no point in panicking in these situations. Take a day off from these things and then get back to work and work based on a schedule.

me too giving FMS.. Can anyone tell the total number of questions and questions in each section..and also about GK how many questions??

FMS 2003
Last year there were about 6 questions on GK. The area from which questions were asked was Current and business GK only. The level of this section has been good in the past wherein almost all the questions were of Business Awareness, specifically companies featuring in Fortune 500, persons featuring in Forbes list, ET Corporate awards, etc.

my sugestions are:
I guess DI and LR would be in same section so one can work with LR first and then scan thru some DI and solve few simple ones
VA i think just brush up ur vocab, download voca from the net and practise 1/2 hr a day.

For Math RC and GA, I think one must remain cool and concentrate

This software can be used for building the vocabulary. Try it. You can also take printout of the wordlists.

I am not able to attach (software is around 1MB) the software with this mail, but it should be useful for people working. You can brush your wordlists sitting in front of the comp.

P.S: It is actually meant for GRE, so I am not too sure about the difficulty level.
