Guys, a small but Important Query.
I've got 67% degree from MDU...which no where classifies as Top by any sense of imagination... by the time the exam and calls will be given i'd have had a work ex of 1 year 8 months..in IT(working for Accenture currently) How big a part my past sins will play at the time of admissions???

Hi,

The selection procedure is highly subjective and competent attitude is expected in all areas. I wont say that past acads dont matter at all, but if u r smart, u can always cover them up with other achievements that u have had. Also, having a workex of say 20 months would act as a slight advantage in ur case. So there.

yeps..thts very true..The institute decides a certain fixed date and stop the admissions after that..clearing of wl is a complicated process with shifting to and from so many institutes. and lotsa factors need to be accounted for, time between consecutive waitlists, students withdrawing and all. and every insti goes with a certain margin while waitlisting students.

also now I am into my dad's business.. Can i claim this business as a relevant work ex??

Hi, workex sure does help in any mba programme. And as far as being in family business is concerned, yes and no. The advantage purely depends on how u portray it. You can show it as something very positive and turn it to your benefit.

hey,
ur work-ex will surely come in handy during the PI. and if u show some good work done in ur dad's enterprise all the better. b-schools are always looking for some different profiles!!

hi naresh..iam going to write JMET 2007...what area does JMET give importance to?regarding quant..is it necessary if i prepare my intermediate syllabus...calculus,..or like CAT ,it has algebra ,geometry..,?or both?i came to know that JMET gives importance to intermediate syllabus unlike CAT where quant till 10th is tested..plz let me know..and do u know sites where i can get these papers..after writing CAT,i have around 20 days time..can i prepare within that short period?(iam above ave student)moreover hows MBA at IITs..i heard it is more of technical oriented ..?how much percentile should i get..plz lot of queries regarding JMET..wanna write it..but noone knows clearly regarding it..plz tell me

the biggest advantage of jmet is tht it has got no sectional cutoffs and it is a scoring paper, if u r good at basics in intermediate maths, n ya, u dont need to study a lot for it, as in not much more than cat. Just quant changes and then, all u need is to brush up wid some inter concepts, tht too a bit of calculus. just see the formulas n all... sites... sample papers 4m all sites like time, pt etc.. tht ll do! in the 20 days after cat, just brush up a bit of calculus and keep the rest of cat prep wid u, thtz it! u ll crack jmet... MBA at IIT is like any other B-School MBA. It isnt technical oriented, but practice oriented. The curriculum is made so as to give u maximum insight into da subj. The growing popularity and success rate of these programmes is a case in point for this!
