JMET eligibility - 25-08-2006, 06:22 PM

Hey guys

One query from my side. I have done my graduation from BCA IGNOU and wish to appear JMET 2006 and apply to IIT Bombay. I browsed the site : http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/JMET06/Pgmelig.do and it is mentioned that the eligibility criteria is :

"First class degree (min.60% aggregate/min. CPI of 6.5/10) in either Engineering (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or Postgraduate degree in Science."

Now in this sentence it is also stated as "Bachelor's degree or equivalent". Does this mean that I can apply for JMET too even though I'm not a B.E ?

mmmm I really dont think so ...here equivalent means degrees which are equivalent to B.E. or B.Tech. and BCA isnt one of them. Cant remember the names but I know there are some which are considered as good as B.E. or B.Tech.

P.S. - I may be wrong

Hey...
Tell me...
When they say 60% aggregate in B.E....
Does this mean the final yr aggregate of B.E will do at 60 up???
Coz only IIT Delhi has mentioned all sems total/total marks for the aggregate...

Generally when you talk abt B.E aggregate....its is assumed to be final yr aggr. rite???

Not necessary, as far as I know, for JNTU (us) the aggregate is calculated, as you said, by all sems total/total. I don't abt other univs. We calculate my aggregate this way including all my friends and faculty. Presently as me being in 1st sem of 3rd year, I totalled the ist and 2nd years' individual sems marks and aggregate them. I thus stand at 72.4%.

P.S- correct me if I am wrong !!!!

@Prasad...When the engg aggregate is mentioned it means the average of all the 8 sems as every university has there different criteria to calculate the degree %. For ex VTU in karnataka takes the aggreagate of 3rd & 4th year.
