Hi Manish, I have already answered this question. We had only 11 people in the batch of 2006. IISc has a policy that it does not fill the quota of 20 seats in case it does not find enough capable candidates.

I can talk about the present batch. We have a full batch of 20 with a 50 - 50 mix of freshers and Experience. The experience varies from 10 months (me!!!) to 3 years. And we do have freshers who have gold medals and are university toppers. So a good academic score does help. However I have a normal (average) academic record in engineering. So i guess academics is not a constraint. However they do look for people with good Quantitative skills.

Re: IISc 2007 Admissions - 25-12-2006, 03:23 PM

Some more reasons why IISc rocks:
1. The small batch size gives amazing flexibility. To give an example those of us who are interested in HR have been given mentors who are the HR heads at companies like Titan and Oracle
2. And though we have not publicised it much, we too have been offering a one term project internship apart from the summer internship...
3. IISc prides itself at being extremly good at Quants...
4. We have something called the management seminar series every week (sometimes twice a week) , where we call an industry speaker (head of GOldman Sachs at India, CEO of Tata Elxsi, CEO of E4E labs to name a few) and also profesoors from foreign universities (even Harvard)
