lessee , I attempted all in english , 39 in quant , and I forget how many in GK.
my prepration-nothing..cat prepration more than enuff

The quant portion of XAT was the toughest part of any of the B-school tests I wrote, so my advice will deal with quant only, verbal and gk cant realy be studied for and are extremely simple.

There was a LOT of probability and chances are it might recur, try and browse through some book on advanced probability.

Take time with the cases,dont panic,spend time on understanding how the case is constructed ,once you get that the answers just fall into place.
Dont bother about cutoffs,can rarely be predicted.

Now thats a real cool tip esp. for people like me who have some sort of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder when it comes to filling the OMR circles, with considerable xtra time in the GK section, it can be easily utilised for this purpose.

hey shriyukta...assumin 30k applicants for XAT...and considering the fact that results come out in exactly 10 days ... how many ppl wud u require to read and grade all 30k essays?

acc. to some info from somewhere , the XAT essay is looked at in the interview stage...to be used as a base for questioning your views or some such rot...fret not, it wont be a stage 1 filter (WARNING: use of grandiose terms! DIAGNOSIS: b-skool student )

just make sure ur XAT essay isnt filled with nonsense...write stuff u can support and substantiate in your interview, if the topic ever comes up...
