there is no such thing that only IT or Engineers can apply to Sitm .
we have students from diverse backgroung in our campus ......and u wont believe that we have even hotel management student in our batch .
so please stop worrying abt that and start preparing for ur GD's and PI .

it all depends whether u r very sure that u want to join the institute or not .

regarding future job prospects finance backround with IT& Telecom makes a deadly combination .....most of the consultants worldwide r looking for it .but u know u just need to strike or make an impact .
yeah surely u would need to make extra effort learning technology but u need to make a space for urself whereever u goooo...

even i am from Commerce backgroung and i am in systems ..

i am a final year telecom engg student frm mumbai,.

mopstlly people tell me that bwing in sitm rnarrows down ur career choices...coz u r restricted to particular fields ...also avg sal is obvciously lesse than siib...i m damn confused ...pls help

im confused plz help me out ..im interested in sitm .but ihv heared that they prefer only enginers (its not mention in eligibility)but as they get enough applications from engineers so y they need to look for others..im post graduate in chemistry with bio background

hey as far as narrowing down is concerned , thats true only till u want to work in IT/Telecom sector, and i m sure u r not goin to work 1 year in FMCG, then in a bank and then in an automobile industry ...so these are just conclusions ppl draw , where ever u go ur goin to work in that industry rest of ur life as it makes sense,of cors if ur interested in IT/Telecom, SITM is d best place to be,and as far as other institutes are concerned , no comparision how ever lemmi tell u SITM is at par and provides you a perfect launch pad...

i know this question keeps coming up,but once again can any sitm guy pls tell us whether there is any distinct preference towards engg candidates?and can anyone pls tell the approx engg:non engg ratio and work ex:freshers ratio?

As far as i know there is no as such bias towards people with tech and non-tech background. I've been told there quite a few commerce background students studying in SITM. But being of tech background is definetly an advantage, especially if you want to apply to system & finance course. Else i guess its a level playing field. Any SITM senior can second this statement.
