Hi Vagabond 77,

i would like to reply to your queries one by one....

1)1. NO breakup of GMAT score! (Q/V/AWA.. nothing is asked)
Yes that true, XL is not asking about the breakup of the GMAT in the form, howver , during the interview, most probably, they will go through the breakup. They did that for most of the junta who appeared for th interview with GMAT scores last year.

2. NO Essays.
The essays are part of the GMAT and no separate essays have been asked last year or this year. If the number of Students applying through GMAT increases, the institute may ask for it. Since this year, they have not, why are you bothering.. Just send them what they want.

3. The form asks for 2 addresses. But no where does the form which ones?? With one, I would have presumed the residencial address, Even with 2 I can presume a work and a home add, but which is which???!!!

Your addresses are Permanent adress and Present address....

4. The form as all the rectangles! (Not text boxes). Do we print the app and fill it with pen or use computer to edit the stuff?

You have to fill up the form in word document and send a print of the same. Dont use pen, it really looks shabby when you are answering subjective questions.

5. What is the GMAT code of the institute/program? I mean does it need official scores? I didn't see that anywhere.

As of now, XLRI does not have a GMAT code. GMP 80 % of the candidates apply thorugh XAT. So as of now, you definitely need to send a xerox copy of the score sheet, preferably attested ones.

6. And finally, Are we allowed to format the form a little? The current format is really bad!!

I think, if one is allowed to draft it in word and take a print the question of format being good or bad does not arise... so there you are....

One more point, of the people who came in through GMAT, 670 was the lowest score for our batch.

regards

Dipankar.

Re: 1 year PGDGM program at XLRI - GMP - 15-10-2006, 09:01 PM

Thanks Dipankar. Appriciate your taking time out for this.
A few more..

7. The form does not ask for any attachments (marksheets/certificates etc.) do I or don't I, send these across with the form?

8. I have a soft PDF of scores from GMAC. So obviously can't attest it.

9. Does GMP have a GD or only interviews?

This one is purely our of curiosity.. feel free to omit a response if you want to.
10. Essays, I don't get a copy of the ones I wrote in GMAT. School does not yet subscribe to get GMAT scores, so it won't get the essays.. so that means XLRI is only looking for numbers. Am I right?

7. The form does not ask for any attachments (marksheets/certificates etc.) do I or don't I, send these across with the form?

you just need to send your application form with the GMAT score print out, plus photographs etc which are metioned in the form. The Marksheets etc will be required at the interview stage. Send whatever the form asks you to.

8. I have a soft PDF of scores from GMAC. So obviously can't attest it.

ok. In that case just send across the print out. But mind you, you need to carry the same during your interview as well.

9. Does GMP have a GD or only interviews?

Its a Interview process only. GMP does not have GD's.

This one is purely our of curiosity.. feel free to omit a response if you want to.
10. Essays, I don't get a copy of the ones I wrote in GMAT. School does not yet subscribe to get GMAT scores, so it won't get the essays.. so that means XLRI is only looking for numbers. Am I right?

Yes you are right. The scores will be sufficient.

THanks Dip.

Again on form. I was trying to fill and most of the tables (marks etc.) are created using straight lines (not the grids available in MS word!). I still believe that it is required to be filled in ink! (Just enter a word and whole layout changes!!! )

Hi Vagabond,

You can fill up the form in ink. I checked the document and what you say is correct. Its not in the grid layout....

Feel free to write it up after taking a good print out...

XLRI student bags CEO post
By PaGaLGuY.com News Service

Nandamudi Sunil Kumar, a student of the present batch of XLRI one-year GMP programme has bagged the post of the CEO
of ABN AMRO Foundation. The salary figure stands undisclosed but there are rumours at the XLRI campus says that it is one of the highest so far from any B-school student.
Sunil has rich industry experience of over 19 years working with NABARD in various branches in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bhubaneshwar. He was an AGM in NABARD at the time he joined GMP programme this June.

The interview process for the post of the CEO happened in Mumbai and lasted several rounds. In the end it was Sunil's relevant industry knowledge and experience and his GMP education that settled the matter in his favour. In Sunil's words, "The industry has a very good perception about one year programmes and the industry has started looking for people with the profiles and expertise that one-year B-school programmes are offering".
The ABN AMRO Foundation was set up in December 2005 as part of the bank's commitment to foster sustainable development.
GMP is an accelerated programme which caters to the ever growing demand for business leaders who are well equipped to be operational from day one. The current batch of GMP at XLRI has 55 students with an average work experience of six years drawn from IT, Finance, Marketing and Operations backgrounds.

5 year work exp limit - 21-10-2006, 12:11 PM

Hi,

Many people had a question about the 5-year work exp limit. I spoke to the current GMP co-ordinator, and he said that XL may give a few months relaxation, but it will be decided on case by case basis. If anyone has a query about this, call up XL and ask to speak to the admissions cell. The faculty may not like us putting their email IDs here - so I'm not quoting them. Sorry abt that

Re: 1 year PGDGM program at XLRI - GMP - 21-10-2006, 08:42 PM

First of all, kudos to Veer and others for taking the initiative to start an informative thread like this. Most people were at dark about the GMP program; this thread will help them enormously.
I will complete 4 years 7 months exp in IT in March'07, i.e., I am falling 5 months short of the amount of work ex required for this program. I have recently taken GMAT and scored 750. I called up xlri to check my eligibility.

This is how the conversation went:
Me: I will complete 4 years and 7 months by March'07. Am I eligible?
Xlri: No
Me(disappointed): Is there any chance of relaxing the criteria a bit. I am only 5 months short.
Xlri:No
Me(attempting to make the lady speak somethin other than monosyllabic words): But ..er..u see other institiutes do bend the rules a bit ...
The line got disconnected or was disconnected by the reserved lady.

Veer, you have mentioned that adcom may tend to relax their rules on case by case basis. But going by the experience I had, does it make sense to apply? In other words, will I be wasting time/money as my apps will neways be rejected OR shud I give it a shot so that if xlri changes mind later and decides to give unfortunates like me a chance to prove thru the interview, i would not miss the oppertunity?

Also, the prospectus says the candidate shud have 5 years of managerial exp? Does it translate to 5 years of work ex? I beleive you need to spend good amount of time in industry (10+) to get 5 years of managerial work ex. I am really confused on this. Maybe any current student can enlighten me.

Neways, thanking u guys again

Ranajay
