Hi Chanaveer and others,
First of all let me congratulate those of you who have got admit for this year 1 yr programme.
I am a future aspirant for this course (08 or 09-- depending on family commitments)
Chanaveer was going to get info on the possibility of having telephonic interviews for international candidates. ( i.e I am working in UK) ?
Is it possible or will one have to make a quick trip to India?
many thanks,
Ranjit | | | | | | | |

Hi,
Carry multiple copies of your resume. Get your resume reviewed by peers and seniors to make it look more professional. If XLRI hasnt mentioned anything about writeup, they wouldnt ask for it in interview. We did not have anything like that. This is apart from the regular instructions - all your original certificates (acad, achievements) and set of xerox copies.
P.S. make sure that the plastic file in which you carry the originals is without bends or cuts and certificates are neatly arranged! The interviews may just take the whole file from you to look at the contents and not ask you to remove the certificates and show to them.
Regards,

My GMP interview experience
a1, a2, a3 (3 on the panel
a1: why applied for BM and GMP why not only one.
Little fumbled... he was not very conviced with my answer.
a2: what is the biggest problem in managing your team.
answered..... no cross question
a2: talk on the one sentence " People are resigning to do MBA, this is a latest trend.
bit fumbled.... but could pull on and was ok
a3: who is the manager
answered what ever I can, they looked happy ... no cross questions
a3: in two sentenses explain the budget for Common man and for professionals like you.
Bingo.... I completely dominated with facts and figures.. we discussed budget for about 5-8 minutes.
Besides this asked about future plans... I took a strong stand about goign for a Venture. and explained the same.
asked about the family a bit.
Thats it. made them laugh while budget discussion... that was positive.
*** fumbled in first 2 questions but there were no cross questions for any of them.
Seniors please throw some light.
I was very firm on me going for my own business in Engienering consultancy
They were askign again and again same question and I was firm on that.
Is it positive or I messed up here as far as GMP programme design is concerned.
Overall interview not more than 20 minutes. was expecting lot more questions and discussion. Have a feel that this was not enough to know a person and they dont know me even 20% to judge.
HOpe it helps other GMP call getters.

Hi Ketan,
The interview is a means of understanding the applicants personality.
In my understanding, the focus is not on the end answers but more
towards how you handle the question, your thought process, communication skills and to a certain extent, breadth of knowledge.
All the best for the results!!
Thanks,
Avinash,

Currently working as a Design Manager in a Private Ltd Firm (2years) | Hi Ketan,
Many thanks for the summary. I hope others will follow suit.
Your XAT score suggests that you will be a strong contender for GMP 2007-8.
BTW, any idea when is the last interview date. Mine is on 8th March in Chennai. Any body having interview later than this? This is just to estimate the date of final results as many would have applied to multiple institutes including me.
Thanks again Ketan.

Hi Ketan,
Many of us also had short interviews - mine was also around 20 min. And your pattern sounds similar to mine . Have heart, just because you fumbled in 1-2 questions, you dont lose it. It sounds like you'v conveyed your message in budget and career questions. That's a positive. Just wait for the results now.
btw, is anyone having telephone interviews? college is closed for 2 days so i couldnt yet get that info.
All the best,
