Re: 1 year PGDGM program at XLRI - GMP - 31-01-2007, 10:04 PM

Hi all PGs,

Let me introduce - I am Umashankar with over 8 years of exp in BPO delivery. I am leading a team of 130.

I received a surprise call for GMP interview today. Surprise since I thought a GMAT score of 640 is too low to get a call. I didn't get any email. I was told on the phone and interviews are likely to be in 1st week of March. Let me know if there is anyone else from Chennai who got a call.

I would like to thank the current batch for their time. Keep going.

Regards,
Umashankar

Hi all 06-07 XL GMPians,

I have question on international exposure aspect of the GMP. This is what the XL website says:

"International exposure is a two weeks international cross cultural project which exposes the participants to international perspective of business, so that the participants can effectively function in an environment different from their “home culture”. It is designed to prepare the participants to take on challenges anywhere in the globalized world."

So, have the current batch of students experienced it or is it in the coming months? Any information on this appreciated.

Hi,

Yes, the current batch has such a program...but it is optional. It'll be held later this year. It's a trip to south-east asia (singapore etc) - im not sure of the tenure and locations. It's compulsory for the next batch.

Regards,
Chanaveer

Hi,

Our placement process is separate from the 2-yr program so there's no problem.

I'm sorry but I can't say anything abt what your chances are - it depends on the interview now. Since there'll definitely be candidates from your background, domain and maybe more work exp, you'll have to present your case well in the interview. Prepare so that you impress the hell out of interview panel!!! :-D

Regards,
Chanaveer

Hi,

Plz make use of the GMP 2006-07 contact zip file I posted above. You can find my classmates from your domain and get interview questions from them.

Let me know if you have difficulty contacting anyone.

BTW, ALL GMP CALL GETTERS, PLZ LET ME KNOW YOUR XAT PERCENTILE OR GMAT SCORE - I'm interested to know at what marks XL is shortlisting this time. You may post here or send message to me.

Chanaveer

Hi Charanveer,
I have been following up your posts on PG from last 3 months and I must say that they are quite helpful to aspirants like us, who have lost touch with acads from last 5-6 years.

My profile is :-
CBSE Class X: 81%
CBSE Class XII: 82%
Aligarh Muslim University , Btech ( Electrical ) : 7.54 grade points.
Work ex : Sales , Siemens Ltd , 5+ years.
XAT Score : 77

I understand that my score is quite low. I goofed up due to some personal issues during exam time. However I am coming with a positive frame of mind and will give my best shot at the interview. I have also gat call for 1 year course of MDI Gurgaon, but would prefer XLRI, if given the chance to choose.

rgds
