project manager for last 7 months in ITES company.
Technical manager for 1 year at LNG terminal.
2nd Engineer with chevron Texaco shipping Company(Top 5 energy companies).
Presently in Hyderabad. Originally from Kanpur.

I have an admit for GMP. My profile:

Acads - 10th, 12th - Excellent, Engg B.tech (Chemical) - Decent
GMAT-690
Work exp: Past -2 yrs in an agrochemical firm (Process design and Projects) & Current - 8 yrs in an Oil PSU (Retail Marketing & Petrochemical Plant operations)

I also have an admit to the NUS Full time MBA.

I am in a fix right now as I have to decide between NUS and XLRI GMP. I need your views on the same (NUS Vs XLRI GMP) which would help me to make an informed decision.

XLRI GMP is a course which suits my kind of work experience (on the higher side as compared to NUS entering class work exp of 4-5 yrs) and I do want to get into a general management kind of role post MBA preferably in the Energy sector. The GMP course is also 12 month which whould help me to get back to work soon as compared to NUS's 17 month curriculum (though NUS offers the option of 12 month also). Though XLRI is a brandname in India and is well known in the Indian indusrty for its business education yet I think it has not established itself as a World class MBA program. NUS on the other hand offers a global MBA program (ranked 81st among the Top100 MBA programs worldwide by Financial times last year) and has been voted as the most preferred school for recruiters and is also highly ranked in terms of international mobility and student diversity (students from 22 countries, though mainly from India/ china). Singapore is a major financial hub but this is not of importance to me as I do not intend to make a shift to Finance. Singapore has world's largest oil companies like Shell, Exxon Mobil, BP etc having their Refinery and Petroleum marketing operations in Singapore, which I perceive as an oppurtunity for me post MBA. NUS also has great international faculty (i dont doubt the credentials of XLRI faculty either) and the course has a special focus on the Asian economy (which is currently booming as compared to North American economy), which may help me to work in Asia after the MBA. I am also keen on international exposure and a global career. But NUS's placement statistics (75% students getting placed at the time of graduation last year) are an area of concern for me as I am from a Non-IT / Non-Finance background. This may be an area of concern in XLRI GMP also. The cost of NUS MBA is 18 lacs as compared to 8 lacs for GMP.

I would request your Guys (both the prospective as well as current GMP students) to share your thoughts on NUS Vs GMP and which MBA Program would be a better fit for me, considering my profile and career aspirations.

Your waiting list number has down to 5 atleast for sure as sumit has left the seat. Now five more person has to walk out or some more seats have to be increased, decision which is still on the cards of XLRI so keep finger crossed but at same time do not give up MDI and join it, later on if GMP is converted you can take your call.
