Hi Junta...

Waited for one whole day for someone to start this thread...didnt have the courage to start...coz of pathetic performance...Well then...thought my scores might make others feel happy abt their marks..and would facilitate them to post their performance..

Anyway coming to mine...
That was a nightmare..the sooner i forget the better.....I'm talking abt the GK section..Dont know how ppl all-over-india will fare in the gk section ..but that was a nightmare...

Verbal was easy and quant..( i dont think why they call it so ...coz no way similar to the quant we find in CAT ) anyway ..the XAT special quant ...was as expected....nothing special abt it...except that it was a complete surprise...for a newbie like me who has never seen the xat special quant questions...

No sight of DI in the XAT ..dont know if all the XAT papers wud be like that...

We had the some weird time limits printed on each section but the invigilators asked us to follow diff time limits ( 40 min verbal , 50 min qa , 30 min gk )...

And GK ....better i forget it ....managed a net score of 3 in 40 attempts

My A/R/W/Net ( Revised Later after the Errata )

VA/RC -> 80 / 62/18 => 56

QA -> 20 / 14 / 6 => 12

GK -> 39 / 12 / 27 => 3

Total -> 139 / 86 / 53 => 71

Could somebody help me in improving my GK section...as u can see ..that's the spoilsport that screwed up my performance

Took a XAT paper for the very first time...n here's my 2 bits:

Section 1: Verbal 80 questions, 40 mins.

This section was as easy as it can get. The section started with 10 synonyms followed by 10 antonyms. Then, we had fill in the blanks, analogies, sentence correction n finally the RC. In 36 mins..I had all the 80 questions done. But since XAT is a strictly timed test, u cannot move onto the next section...so, just waited for the next 4 mins.

Score:

Attempts: 80; correct: 60; Incorrect: 20. Net: 53.33(1/3 negative)

I got a lot of those sentence correction as incorrect. I really don't believe the time key. How else would u explain replacing a proper n concise word like "BUGBEAR" with its literal meaning. I don't agree with TIME on these questions...would have got another 6 correct if not for these questions.

Section 2:

For people who haven't given XAT before, it was just out of this world. Nothing similar to CAT..all the questions were based on sequesnce completion,sets, functions, regular expressions etc.

But with practice these type of questions can be mastered. My score is dismal in this section considering that i had 50 mins for this section

Attempts: 18; Correct: 12; Incorrect: 6; Net: 10

Section 3:

GK..absolutely unprepared for this. The questions were on current affairs, history( both world n indian), department heads, science etc etc.

Again TIME key does make some errors..or so, i presume. One of the questions says "What would be the shortest way possible??"
Options:

1. Latitudes
2. Longitudes
3. rivers
4. XXXXX( I don't remember)

Time says the answer is Longitudes but i think the answer should be Rivers. Wot Say?????

Score:

Attempts: 38; Correct: 17; incorrect: 21; net: 10 (very bad)

The whole story:

Attempts: 136
Correct: 89
Incorrect: 47

Net: 73.33

Pool in ur views public. I didn't give XAT last year...but i am sure many questions from this paper would have been a repeat of last year.

gk accuracy was poor ...
basically went for a fling or wat girish would call the full monty!!!!... attempted every question in sight..

wat i noticed was total lack of pressure and a wat the hell attitude during the exam...

Pathetic performance here too!The atmosphere in the 'exam hall' was supercool with periodic frequent discussions Got fed up with the paper halfway thro and managed an incredible feat finished the 2hr paper in 90 min Reflects a lot abt my sense of dedication and commitment My performance:

quants : 18/3
gk: 22/15
So total something around 83.BTW when are they releasing the results?

relatively new here...been watching all the action as a mute spectator.
cudnt resist when u guys came up abt the aimxat 1!

my scores are something like
verbal 53right/13 wrong/ nett 48.66
quants-12/2/11.33
gk-21/10/17.66

total 77.59
here i heard a couple of guys say 88 and 89 etc...
also heard the gk cut off mite be around 22 but dint hear such scores from any1!

also the time website seems to be mum abt it...

totally agree with the what the heck attitude..... so unlike aimcats....

Hi all,

Me took the mock XAT on saturday. Wonder whether our centre will process and publish my scores... coz, they didnt give us OMR sheets ( they gave us some plain paper on which there is a OMR sheet printed... wonder how the machine can process them... it is soo thin )
Coming to the test..

It was from 8-10 in the morning. As usual i reached the centre JIT to find only a handful there. Wonder where the 800+ junta who took the AIMCATs....

Yeah... the paper was easy.

Verbal
did 70 of them. very is vocabulary and RCs. did it for some 35 mins and jumped to Quants.
Ah... what a paper... every set has got some logic and somany of them has got so much to do with lots of iterations.
did some 22 there in 30 mins.
moved to GK... and they gave some 45 mins for it.
did it for 15 mins and attempted 29. That is all i can to.
waited for some more time in the class, but no use... ppl were talking as if they are watching some cricket match

gave the answer sheet just after 90 mins from starting.

sooo overall projections ( i will get the key today )

Verbal - 70/50/20 - 43.33
Quants - 22/19/3 - 18
GK - 29/15/14 - 10.33

soo i may get some 70 net score...
Lot of catching up to do... If i remember correctly last year cutoff for XL is somewhere around 100 acc. to CL. so much to do. but then time is there.
will work like hell for the next one on dec 2x....

Verbal- attempted 79- got 19 wrong,
Quant- 18- 3 ,
General Awareness: 34- 15 ( ),

I think I will wndup with 80+ there.....( no idea abt.. the extent of -ve marking...)
I think they gave the answer wrong for question no 97....
