U can post ur queries here regarding Department Of Management Sciences (PUMBA) University of Pune. Being an ex PUMBAITE, and a product of the 1st autonomous batch, I can answer all ur possible queries.

Although, u've already answered a lot of my queries but I have a few more:
wat was the highest offerd this year , IT in particular?
how much did HCL offer n how much can it offer a non fresher?
Apart from HCL, I dont really see a lot of IT product companies that visited the campus,
I wish to get into hardcore sales n marketing with a IT hardware/software company.
TCS is a solutions provider n is into harcore software development so there aint much scope for a hardcore IT sales/marketing job, I am looking at IT product sales companies
just to make myself clear: I am looking for companies like CISCO, Dell,Oracle.
I know that these companies do not visit pumba, but do companies which offer a similar job profile visit?
the website mentions Dlink amongst the list of companies that students did their summers from, didnt dlink visit ur college for the final placements,

U work as an asst manager with honeywell solutions,how many years of prior wokr ex do u have?

Hi Dad,

Well regarding Placements-

Year 2006

Highest Package- Maersk International (Denmark)- 8.8 Lacs
ICICI Bank - 6 Lacs (30 selected)
Average salary- 3.1 Lacs
(Gross Figures not CTC)
Companies- Fortune 100 companies Honeywell, Huntsman, Coke etc. Also Wipro Technologies, TCS, Mastek, HCL (Tech+Comnet+Info), KPIT. Banks like ICICI, HDFC, Standard Chartered, Kotak, JP Morgan Chase etc.
Also Leo Burnett, Tyco, Ma Foi, SKF, Bajaj Auto, Daimler Chrysler etc.

Hostel limited for a select few from merit and backward category as it is a university hostel. But u can easily go for a rented flat in Aundh or Sanghvi in the range of 2.5K-5K, and share it with batchmates. Tiffin service available in the night for 600 and mess in University for 800(2 times)

Best Part is the Course Curriculum- Trimester pattern- Credit system-Dual Specialization- CGPA Grading system(as in the IIMs). Only B-school thru CET to offer this!!

wud also like you to comment on my prospects for making it to PUMBA... CET%ile 98.35 (score 130), PAR=3, WE=0, OMS candidate. Decent GD/PI!!
Also, scored 99.58%ile in May MAT... wud go for a conversion!!
Pls lemme know if I have a chance in PUMBA.

has mentioned that the cut offs for oms candidates r likely to be 160, with ur CET score u might just make it there however ur may MAT score should see u in PUMBA comfortabely.

....n pumba is the 3rd govt run bschool in the country to have a wifi connection, plus the university is blessed with 445 acres of lush green area, sumthin that no other bschool can boast of, not to 4get the women, u get them in all shapes n sizes here!!!


btw, vinay, is the lappy compulsory, if not does havin help?

Hi Franki,

No Laptop is not compulsory, but having one does help. Anyways there is a huge Comp/ Internet Lab with adequate computers for all students. Anyways, in my batch a lot of my friends had one and hence we could share them for use. PUMBA is a Wi-Fi Campus and hence getting access to internet is not a problem. Meanwhile an additional feature of the course curriculum is that u will do 3 Mandatory projects (Not Just a summer as in other B-schools). 2 are corporate projects and 1 Social NGO project at the end of 5th Trimester. So that gives a lot of additional learning. Also there will be 20 Foreign Students(IRAN, THAILAND, CHINA, KOREA Etc) which gives cross culture exposure and interaction.
