BITS Pilani MBA

I just saw an Ad for BITS Pilani MBA. It offers two specializations:

• Engineering and Technology Management
• IT Enables Services Management

I contacted the institute and was told that it will be the first batch for MBA. On placement thing, they didn't tell anything. Anyone from BITS, please enlighten us how good is the management department there.

I am a B.Tech (CS), C-DAC with 20 months of work ex as a software engineer.
I already have an admit from KJ Somaiya. Do you guys think that it would be worth leaving KJ for BITS. As far as BITS reputation is concerend, it is just next to IITs. I hope that its MBA program will make a mark some day as have MBA of IITs have done.

HI Aseem,

Buddy I would go for KJ...Simply 'cos it is well known for its MBA programme & its in MUMBAI (location plays a very imp role in final placemetns)... In fact I was also planning to apply for BITS & I spoke to consellor at TIME,CL etc as per them Kj is way ahead of BITS....

I do not have Complete info on BITS so I would recommend to make your choice after proper research.

Can u plz throw light on how to apply and when to apply for MBA admission process?? I am interested in 09 intake. Do they take CAT or they have their test of own??

MBA@BITS-PILANI: The program is offered in the field of IT Enabled Services and Engineering Technology, which by itself stands out of all other MBA degree. BITS offers these specialization owing to the strong need of technical knowledge for modern managers. A group of highly qualified core faculty, visiting faculty and practitioners imbue the students with contemporary knowledge base, business analysis and information based decision making skills thus spawning illustrious corporate executives, entrepreneurs and academicians world-over in its existence of over three decades. Selection is after an All India Entrance Test comprising of Technical Tests, an Aptitude Test, Group Discussions and a Personal Interview. The first batch of this program itself saw an enormous demand in the corporate world with the highest placement of 20 lakhs by an Australian consulting company.apart from this guys got placed in companies like Perot systems ,JP Morgan chase,I Flex and Kinapse etc
Input & Selection Procedure
Eligibility The input for the programme has two basic entry points:
 The principal input are students possessing any Integrated first degree of BITS or BE/B.Tech in Engineering disciplines from other recognized universities.
 Existing students of BITS-Pilani could pursue the MBA programme through the dual-degree option where they would complete their undergraduate degree in Engineering coupled with the MBA programme in 5 years
Selection The 2008(passing out) batch candidates were short-listed based on their performance in their engineering degree, meeting the cut-off percentage of 70% for the MBA programme, this coupled with a Statement of Purpose and other documents ensure that the applicant gets shortlisted. On short listing, the applicant is invited to Pilani where they are subjected to a battery of tests that determine their suitability for the programme. The candidate is subjected to an Online Technical Test that test their understanding of the engineering concepts based on their specialization. On successful completion of the Technical Test they undergo a Management Aptitude Test, where the candidate’s aptitude is tested. Based on the performance in the Technical Test and Management Aptitude Test, candidates are short listed for further selection process which includes a Group Discussion & a Personal Interview for admission to MBA. Final selection is based on candidate’s scholastic record, relevant work experience & performance based on different parameters.
