Re: BITS Pilani MBA - 20-05-2008, 11:14 AM

since we are given choice of subjects to test in, i chose subjects like principles of management and communication english in addition to maths and physics .read your engineering 1st and 2nd yr books for maths and physics.
for the technical part, now thats your domain.Since, i am from eee backgroung so i selected a few subjects that i considered as easy and attempeted them .I would also suggest that you take up subects that you are familiar with and attempt.
Generally the technical paper is a little above normal standards so just write what you know .
For the aptitude part, its very easy so do really well as that can change the whole scenario.

Hey,I am an engg graduate passed out from BITS-Pilani in 2007.Well,regarding MBA I would say that it is still in a nascent stage and will take time for the repo to build up.Also, the placements for the first batch aren't very great. It would be wise to go with the institutes already having a reputation and better placements.
Though I see BITS MBA rising to IIT standards just like their engg degree is.

Hi vinee,
The test patter has changed a little as compared to first 2 batches ...
There ll b 3 tests if I am right
One would be physic maths n english
second will be relatin to your BTech IT ... I suggest you just brush through the topics .. I m not sure if they will give you the choice to select as the brochure doesnt say so unlike the 1st two batches ... SInce you are a fresher I m sure you ll find them little easy ... but otherwise also need not worry as they r basic qns ...
Aptitude is more towards problem solving ...

Good luck

Re: BITS Pilani MBA - 27-06-2008, 11:57 AM

1. As u mentioned i have to concentrate on current topics...r these topics only IT sector related(coz the two specializations are IT , engg and techno related) or do i have to prepare as a normal B school interview..ie study bout history, economics, geography ,civics etc...
GD – Topic can be anything not only relating to ITes or ETM. Prepare as you prepare for normal B-school. Be updated with current hot topics and news

2. How many seats r there in BITS pilani MBA course?
Number of Seats: You have to understand that the course is new and the seats are slowly been increased. I expect this year they would hire around 60 students. But that is my personal guess seeing the trend.

3. How many students (approx) r called for gd pi??
Common dude you expect me to know this answer? You go and find out and tell me if you can. Are you afraid of facing many people? I feel the more the better.

4. any specific topic for gd pi or any specific area
No

5. what sort of facilities r offered to mba students...r they similar to be B.E students..?
You would be given Internet connection to your room.
Dedicated discussion room for MBA with U shaped sitting.
Library has dedicated management section with lot of journals.
Management Group is completely dedicated to mba program.
Interface is a national level management event conducted by MBA students only.
There is lot of entreprenuerial events conducted.
BITS will sponsor MBA students for travel and stay if you get selected for presenting you Business Plan.
You will be in a reputed management association of BITS for taking care of event marketing, finance, IT etc.
Management Lectures especially for MBA students by eminent personalities
Alumni talks especially for MBA students
Placement month and week dedicated to MBA students
All these (probably few more I missed) will be available for you apart from all the facilities available for BE students.

6. I m a fresher ...is it to my disadvantage in placement...is the person who got 20 lac a fresher??
Everywhere there is an advantage for experience person otherwise why will anyone go to work for few years before doing his MBA. Do you think the highest package IIM gets is for freshers? Think again. Having said that you don’t have any disadvantage over them its only that they automatically perform n think better. If you can prove that you are better no reason why you wont get a better offer. Both have their own advantages.

7. and lastly whats the best way to reach pilani frm bhopal or delhi or agra??
We always take Delhi to Pilani as the bus frequency is more.
Jaipur is another option. I personally feel agra is not a good option and I don’t have any idea about bhopal.

8. Normal Package most might get: 5.5 LPA
Average will be higher because of the highest package!

9. Placement scenario: You would easily get two good offers before you finish the program. 100%

10. Experience of seniors: why do u want to know that? Average experience is 2-3 years.

11. Market Reaction: Very good. Companies are ready to offer much higher package n better profile. One of our batch mates (fresher) got a senior analyst profile in Deloitte.

Next batch placement will commence the semester once you join.
