I completly agree on your view. you have an outstanding profile and so many of us like me.
I am also disappointed with this irrevalent logic. TISS is regarded as one of the Best Institutes in India and select its students on National level written test and GD/PI where best brains compete.
I think there should be transperency in the selection procedure.
The information brochure had created a lot of expectations as the no. of seats were increased with two streams for the programme.
i think admission commitee should be accountable and explain the right reasons.
we should know where we lacked from others and could improve on next time.
i am writting a letter for the same to The Director and the Dean. i think we need to be assertive.

thanks
Gunjan

yeah. got the same reply too. the person i spoke to wouldn't say yes or no to a waitlist. but told me to wait untill may 3rd. the waitlist will not be put up in the college or in the website. people who are selected will be called thro phone and informed of their selection. so all those who are not in the list keep your fingers crossed(i have crossed mine).

still waiting........

Guys and Gals,
Congrats to all who made it! Getting into TISS is no mean feat!!! Rock on puys!
@ Ramkrishna, Yuvi told me abt you. Wish u all de best in your career.
And to the query of TISS not having waitlists...
TISS is a very specialized institute. Ppl who are genuinely interested in HR apply to TISS. The shortlisting process is also unique. So overlap is minimal.
Regds.

Well, even if one half of preparation is OK its the other half, that gets me bothered. I'm currently working and that takes up about good 5-6 days of my week. So as of
right now, the studies are pretty much sunday to sunday kinds. On top of that, the changed pattern of TISS, enuf to add to my sleepless nights. Have some questions for you in this regard.Please give them some time, whenever convenient.

1. Considering this is the first and only MBA ntrance i'd be giving, and my DI, Logical, math etc isnt too great, how and where from do you suggest i prepare?
2. What are all the books/magazines i must have in my blood to be prepared for the essay test. As of rite now, i read TOI n India Today religiously.I dont have any more time left to pick up anything else
3. which is my third question. I read on Pagalguy, that you're working too, when you applied for and got thru TISS. Do you thing the time we're devoting this way is enuf?

Rest of the questions later. Dont want to scare you off in the first mail itself

Would look forward to your mail. Thanks a ton.

Have a nice day.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Its not about being mentor and I do not want to be called one. I have got some information, from my seniors, that I want to give back. You are helping me in doing that. I appreciate that.
Less time for preparation: No amount of time is more than enough for preparation. What ever time you have got is, believe me, enough for preparation. When one has less time, the preparation is more intense. Make sure that what ever time you spend is quality time. I used to work 13 hours a day during my preparation, but I prepared for a period of 9 months. Hence, I covered up. You could do the same.
Change in Examination Pattern: Your apprehension is quite expected. In fact I thought of giving up the exams this year and take it up the next. I believe, its not official, the aptitude is meant to remove the most quantitatively inept candidates. I had almost nil preparation for the aptitude test. However, I had the basics right. That's what helped me in the end. Mathematics section, this time, required only the basic formulas. The questions were very basic. Since my preparation was negligible, I concentrated more on Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and made sure that each and every answer was correct. I believe, not necessarily true, that DI and LR come naturally. Hence, brush up your basics and make sure that you solve some DI and LR questions. It would help. In short, don't feel bogged down and do your best. You should sail through. Pick up old books for IMS or other classes. It should be enough to prepare for the kind of test that I had taken. God bless if they decide to make the test more intense next time around.
Reading Material: It would definitely help to read TOI, IT etc. Better would be The Hindu. I used to visit, www.indiatogether.org. It's a wonderful resource. Contains all the aspects that TISS would like you to have i.e. Social, Political and Economic Issues are covered in great depth and they do not give biased opinions, that other sources may provide.
I hope this answers your questions satisfactorily. Do let me know of other queries that you might have.
I would be posting this mail on PG. Of course, without your email ID.
-BB
Hi all,
This is my first post at this thread..But I have been reading the same for quite some time.And I feel great to see the kind of response and help TISS guys keep providing..I am keen to prepare for TISS but know very little about the nature of exam.However,Babu and other seniors seem to be amazingly helpful on this.I am a mechanical engineer and presently working with a software company.I look forward to switch to HR,as it attracts me the most.
Hope to learn a lot more about TISS and other HR based courses here..Pls let me know when will TISS exam take place for the next session?I guess it happened in Jan this year but read in previous posts that it used to take place in June earlier..when should it happen next??
Honestly look forward to hav a lot more interaction here..Thanks Babu and all TISSians for being there and inspiring ppl like me to anticipate better )
